Job Title: Quality Mechanical Inspector

Location: Greater San Francisco Bay Area (Travel Required)

Duration: Ongoing, 12-month contract (3-4 days per week with potential for full-time hours)

Pay Range: $29 - $31 USD / hr

Position Overview: This is an exciting opportunity for a Quality Mechanical Inspector to work with an elite aerospace company. The role involves conducting inspections on mechanical parts and composites at various client-supplier sites across the greater San Francisco Bay area. The position requires travel between different suppliers, with reimbursement for mileage, travel time, and lodging if necessary. After completing this role, you will join a prestigious database of inspectors, eligible for future projects.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform in-process and final source inspections of composite and mechanical parts.
  • Conduct precise mechanical inspections using industry-standard tools and techniques.
  • Read and interpret manufacturing drawings based on industry and commodity standards.
  • Travel between supplier locations in the greater Seattle area (mileage and travel time reimbursed).
  • Maintain strict adherence to quality control standards and regulations.


Requirements:
  • Hands-on experience with various mechanical inspection tools, including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and thread gauges.
  • Proficiency in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Experience with Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM); CMM programming experience is a plus but not required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required due to the nature of the products and the need for background checks.
  • Ability to travel between client locations as needed.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in aerospace, automotive, or similar industries is a plus.
  • Prior work with composite materials is beneficial.
  • Previous exposure to shadow inspections and training within the aerospace industry.


Training Details:
  • Initial shadow inspection with a local inspector.
  • Followed by 2-3 days of additional shadow inspections.
  • Remote classroom session for further training.
  • Gage R&R training session, with final field training before approval.


Travel & Compensation:
  • Travel will be reimbursed for mileage, Portal to Portal, and lodging as required.
  • This is a part-time position with full-time potential based on demand.
