Job Description

The Saw operator/B Mechanic is responsible for the set-up, adjustment, and operation of horizontal bandsaws, vertical bandsaws, abrasive saws, drilling/tapping equipment, sanders, grinders, deburring equipment, and metal prepping machinery.  This position is for a hands on, detail oriented individual, able to work under minimal supervision to complete tasks.  Working hours are Monday – Friday, 10:00am – 6:00pm preferred (hours negotiable).

Responsibilities may include:

  • Maintaining safe operations by adhering to all safety procedures and regulations and alerting management to safety hazards that exist.
  • Reading metric and imperial engineering drawings.
  • Setup and operation of horizontal bandsaw, vertical bandsaw, abrasive saw, drilling/tapping equipment, sanders, grinders, deburring equipment, and metal prepping machinery.
  • Load saw by lifting, using manually operated lift, or forklift
  • Determine proper saw feeds and speeds by material type and geometry
  • Monitor saw blade condition and change it out when appropriate
  • Cycle counting raw materials
  • Contributing to cost and lead time reduction through continuous improvements and innovation in manufacturing coming up with creative solutions to produce low volume parts cost effectively
  • Working with the team to keep the work area, machines, and tooling clean & organized
  • Perform basic machine preventive maintenance
  • Ensuring smooth handoffs between shifts through regular communication
  • Supporting and complying with all applicable laws, company policies and procedures including HSE, ISO and Quality policies and procedures applicable to the position.
  • Other duties as required by supervisor.

 

Qualifications

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of work experience in a hands on environment
  • Able to lift 50 lbs and move raw material for extended periods
  • Able to be on feet for long periods of time.
  • Able to use rolling stairs to retrieve raw materials in elevated locations
  • Self-motivated with strong problem solving skills, efficient management of time and resources,  and able to work independently as well as in cross-functional teams
  • Ability to read engineering drawings in imperial and metric units of measure
  • Good written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of experience in a manufacturing/shop environment and an associates or vocational degree in a related technical field
  • Experience in a low volume, high mix, manufacturing environment
  • Experience operating a forklift
  • Can read and interpret engineering drawings, and computer-generated reports
  • Working knowledge of MS Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel)

The expected compensation range for this position is between $54,080.00 to 64,480.00 based on a full-time schedule.

Compensation for roles at Syntegon varies depending on a wide array of non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, degree/credentials, relevant skill set, and level of relevant experience. At Syntegon compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. Total rewards at Syntegon include salary + bonus (if applicable) + benefits.
