Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

The Field Service Engineer will:

  • Install, commission, and maintain new packaging lines, ensuring they meet agreed specifications
  • Conduct site acceptance tests and troubleshoot equipment issues across the entire range of secondary packaging equipment
  • Provide customer training on routine maintenance and operation of Syntegon Packaging equipment
  • Training customer in routine maintenance and operation of Syntegon Packaging equipment.
  • Resolve electrical, mechanical, and software issues, identifying root causes and liaising with the engineering team when necessary
  • Manage customer expectations and provide detailed reporting following site visits
  • Support product trials and work to tight timescales to minimise downtime
  • Engage in ongoing product training to maintain up-to-date knowledge of Syntegon equipment

 

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Experience in field service, preferably in packaging engineering
  • Qualifications in Mechatronics, mechanical or electrical engineering
  • Understanding of FMCG & GMP manufacturing industry
  • Proficiency in electrical, mechanical, and software engineering, including:
  • Modern and legacy control systems
  • High-speed packaging machine adjustment and optimisation
  • PLC theory and implementation (e.g., RsLogix, Simatic Step7)

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Commercial awareness. Being able to spot opportunities, confidence to talk to the customer about products we can offer, before reporting to sales.
  • An understanding of a high-level of customer service
  • Ability to prioritise and work to challenging deadlines
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work remotely, with time away from home
  • Full driving license
