Compliance Research Coordinator

The Role

TimelyCare is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Compliance Research Coordinator to join our team. This role is essential in ensuring our telehealth services comply with relevant laws and regulations, particularly concerning the treatment of minors, record-keeping, reporting requirements, and provider licensing. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in legal research within healthcare compliance or a related field and experience working at a law firm.


As the Compliance Research Coordinator, you will play a critical role in researching federal, state, common, and international laws to ensure that our operations align with all relevant federal, state, common, and international laws, regulations, and industry standards. Your expertise will contribute to the maintenance of a compliant and ethical environment, safeguarding the trust and well-being of our clients, partners, and stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in researching legal compliance, specifically within the telehealth industry. This role is also responsible for systematically and efficiently managing state-state telehealth compliance needs, execution, and analysis for the purpose of maximizing operational performance and minimizing risk. 


This role reports directly to the Director of Compliance and Risk and will communicate and work across the company with multiple stakeholders. The position requires a deep understanding of healthcare laws and regulations, and the ability to work in a fast-paced and evolving environment. Planning and organizational skills, as well as the ability to write and present information in a clear and concise manner are also critical skills. 


What You'll Do
  • Support the Director of Compliance and Risk in maintaining an effective compliance program for TimelyCare.
  • Conduct thorough research to monitor and interpret evolving laws and regulations related to healthcare, data privacy, and telemedicine, and adapt company policies and practices accordingly. 
  • Identify potential areas of risk and work with the legal team to address and mitigate these risks.
  • Stay updated on compliance requirements related to: Duty to warn/protect and mandatory abuse reporting for children, elder adults, disabled adults, and intimate partner violence. 
  • Conduct comprehensive research on federal, state, international, common, and local laws, regulations, and industry guidelines relevant to the telehealth industry. Stay up-to-date with any changes or developments that may impact our operations.
  • Compile, maintain, and update compliance documentation and research findings.
  • Prepare detailed reports and summaries to inform internal stakeholders.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of compliance policies and procedures.
  • Conduct routine compliance audits and assessments, and work to address any issues or discrepancies promptly.
  • Act as a role model for excellence in legal and compliance matters and show a high degree of professionalism.
  • Communicate, write and present information effectively to groups and/or individuals with all levels of staff and leadership.


Who You Are
  • Knowledge of laws and regulations affecting telehealth practices.
  • Experience conducting thorough, accurate, and well-sourced legal research.
  • Experience working with higher education institutions and an understanding of their unique compliance needs is a strong plus.
  • Experienced in writing and reviewing policies and procedures. 
  • Use time effectively and efficiently and is a self-starter; initiative is demonstrated to proactively diagnose and resolve problems. 
  • Ability to synthesize complex information into plain language concepts actionable at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to identify and use organizational resources, such as platforms, dashboards, people and processes to accomplish initiatives
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, high growth company. Change is met with positive and supportive behavior. 
  • Must be able to deliver information to stakeholders in a manner that is concise, timely and understandable.


What You Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, healthcare administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in compliance research or a related legal research role.
  • Certification in healthcare compliance (CHC) or similar credential. Relevant certification in paralegal studies or compliance is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare laws and regulations.
  • Excellent research, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to interpret complex legal and regulatory information.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite, Microsoft Office Suite and legal research databases.
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare laws, regulations, and compliance standards, including HIPAA, FERPA, and relevant telehealth regulations.
  • Excellent legal research skills and the ability to interpret complex legal documents and requirements.
  • High level of attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality with a high degree of follow through and completing assignments
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively. 
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Excellent analytical thinking skills and problem solving abilities. Ability to assess risks and develop effective risk mitigation strategies.
  • Ability to compare, edit and use track changes on documents. 
  • Skilled in creating summary spreadsheets, documents, and presentations.

The salary range for this opportunity is $60,000 – $65,000 per year, depending on education and experience. This is the base pay. You will be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to the base pay, to be discussed during the interview process.
