Summary of Job Duties:

The Intensive English Program (IEP) at the University of Arkansas is designed to provide non-native English speakers the language and cultural skills needed for academic, professional, and personal success through high-quality, interactive, student-centered instruction. This non-tenure-track, adjunct lecturer will design, develop, and deliver English courses at various levels of proficiencies alongside the Director of the IEP. In addition, this lecturer will create, grade, and assess work providing feedback to strengthen students’ English speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills. This lecturer will also regularly review and update course content to ensure the design and delivery of material complies with the high-quality standards and regulations of the University of Arkansas. Finally, this lecturer will supervise, where appropriate, students’ supplemental activities and excursions outside of the classroom.

Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others


Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree from an accredited institution of higher education in TESL/TEFL/Linguistics/Applied Linguistics

OR

  • Master’s degree in a related field with TESL/TEFL certification

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in higher education

  • Experience in an intensive English program

  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Experience developing and implementing new methods of teaching

  • Ability to manage students at different proficiency levels simultaneously

  • Knowledge of the Blackboard

  • Skill in written and verbal communication
