Responsibilities

Northridge Hospital Medical Center is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Clinical Lab Scientist to join our dynamic team in the Microbiology department. We are committed to providing high-quality patient care and fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.

  • Perform a wide range of microbiological procedures including:
    • Bacterial culture and identification
    • Antimicrobial susceptibility testing
    • Mycology and parasitology testing
    • Molecular diagnostics
    • Blood cultures
    • Quality control and instrument maintenance
  • Analyze and interpret laboratory results ensuring accuracy and timely reporting.
  • Maintain accurate and complete documentation of all procedures and results.
  • Collaborate with other laboratory staff and healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care.
  • Participate in departmental quality assurance and improvement initiatives.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and protocols.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree required.
  • Continuing education lectures and courses to keep knowledge current as required.
  • Must have experience reading different culture types and setting up cultures traditional and molecular-based.
  • Required training in
    • Hematology
    • Chemistry
    • Blood Bank
    • Microbiology
    • Immunology and Serology as applicable.
  • California Clinical Laboratory Scientist License or Limited California Clinical Laboratory Scientist License
  • California Clinical Immunohematologist Scientist License
  • California Clinical Microbiologist Scientist Licenses are required and ASCP registry is preferred.
  • LA Fire card is required. (Must obtain within 90 days of hire date. Classes offered at the hospital)
