Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center is an independent, nonprofit organization providing adult cancer treatment and groundbreaking research focused on cancer and infectious diseases. Based in Seattle, Fred Hutch is the only National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center in Washington.

The Stamatatos Lab is at the forefront of HIV translational vaccine research. Our work focuses on developing and evaluating innovative vaccination strategies against viral pathogens. We employ a broad range of experimental and computational approaches, integrating preclinical immunogen evaluation with clinical testing in close collaboration with the HIV Vaccine Trials Network at Fred Hutch.

 

We are seeking a Research Technician I-II to join our team. Under the guidance of the Principal Investigator and senior lab members, the candidate will contribute to analyzing immune responses to our vaccine candidates in both animal models and human trials.

Responsibilities

  • Perform immunochemical assays, such as ELISA, Biolayer Interferometry (BLI), FLOW cytometry, Western Blotting and other.
  • Perform diverse molecular assays.
  • Asist with mouse immunization studies.
  • Assist with mammalian protein expression, purification and analytical characterization.
  • Maintain laboratory records and compile data on experiments and results.
  • Participate in the daily operation of the laboratory.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Research Technician I:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related scientific field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated scientific knowledge in the area of study.
  • Demonstrated basic laboratory skills.

Research Technician II: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in related scientific field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 2 years of experience working in a lab outside of school coursework

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Expertise with molecular techniques and immunochemical assays.
  • Expertise working with small animals.
  • Expertise with FLOW cytometry.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Motivation, adaptability, and ability to be a team player. 
  • Great attention to details, well-organized, self-motivated, and able to efficiently manage time and experiments.

Research Technician I: The hourly pay range for this position is from $22.87 to $32.56 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.  

Research Technician II: The hourly pay range for this position is from $26.48 to $37.70 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications. This position may be eligible for relocation assistance.Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center offers employees a comprehensive benefits package designed to enhance health, well-being, and financial security. Benefits include medical/vision, dental, flexible spending accounts, life, disability, retirement, family life support, employee assistance program, onsite health clinic, tuition reimbursement, paid vacation (12-22 days per year), paid sick leave (12-25 days per year), paid holidays (13 days per year), paid parental leave (up to 4 weeks), and partially paid sabbatical leave (up to 6 months).
