Role Summary
Visa is looking for a Hybrid Cloud Data Platform Engineer to strengthen our hybrid cloud-based data platform. This role requires expertise in designing and managing scalable data platforms that support critical business functions. The selected candidate will work on cutting-edge technologies in cloud environments and big data ecosystems, ensuring high performance, security, and reliability.
This role provides an opportunity to work closely with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, analysts, and software engineers, to drive innovation and build next-generation data platforms.
Key Responsibilities
● Develop, optimize, and manage large-scale big data platform compromising of Hadoop, S3, Spark, Hive, Trino and cloud-based data platforms to support business intelligence and analytics.
● Design and implement efficient data pipelines to integrate, process, and store large datasets from various sources.
● Enhance data reliability, integrity, and governance, ensuring compliance with security and regulatory standards.
● Work with cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP) to architect scalable and cost-effective data solutions.
● Automate infrastructure provisioning using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform and CloudFormation.
● Monitor and improve system performance, resource utilization, and operational efficiency.
● Stay ahead of emerging trends in cloud technologies, big data processing, and AI-driven analytics.
● Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and collaborate with other teams to enhance platform capabilities.
This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.
Basic Qualification
●2+ years of relevant work experience and a Bachelors degree, OR 5+ years of
relevant work experience
Preferred Qualification
●5+ years of experience in cloud data platform engineering or big data platform
development.
● Strong programming skills in Python, Java, or Scala for data processing and
automation.
● Expertise in cloud computing platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) with hands-on
experience in services like AWS Glue, EMR, Athena, Azure Synapse, and
Databricks.
●Experience with big data technologies, including Hadoop, Spark, Hive, and
Presto.
●Knowledge of data integration frameworks, ETL pipelines, and data lake
architectures.
●Familiarity with IaC tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible.
●Strong grasp of data security, governance, and compliance best practices.
●Experience working in agile environments with modern CI/CD pipelines and
DevOps practices.
●Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a
related field.
