Job Description

Team Summary

The Consumer Card Product & Segments group manages the deployment and optimization of Visa’s core products base consisting of Credit, Debit and Prepaid payments solutions globally. The team is also responsible for the development and deployment of innovation across this product suite. To do this, we work in close partnership with Visa clients and key internal and external stakeholders across the globe. We are also a key part of the transition of conventional card-based solutions onto digital form factors, ensuring Visa payments solutions remain the market-leading way for consumers to spend their money and manage their payments across Visa’s global regions.

Visa Inc. is seeking a dynamic and visionary Senior Director to lead the development, and delivery of Visa's Affluent Consumer Segment strategy. This role is pivotal in driving the evolution of our offerings, from creating new, Ultra High Net Worth (UHNW)-focused propositions to refreshing our existing Mass Affluent product set. The ideal candidate will be a thought-leader, who has experience in and a hunger to 'roll up their sleeves' and get involved in new product development and go-to-market planning, and who has exceptional cross-functional stakeholder management skills and a proven talent for leading and inspiring teams.

Reporting to the VP, Card Products & Segments, the SD, Affluent & Consumer Segments will be responsible for initiatives across six broad areas of responsibility.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy for Visa's Affluent Consumer Segments – from Mass Affluent through to Ultra High Net Worth (UHNW).
  • Identify market opportunities and trends to drive innovation and growth within the Affluent Segment.
  • Work closely with executive leadership to align segment strategies in line with overall business objectives.

Product Development & Enhancement:

  • Lead the development of new, innovative UHNW propositions that meet the unique needs of this narrow but important consumer base.
  • Oversee the refresh and enhancement of existing Mass Affluent products to ensure they remain competitive and relevant.
  • Collaborate across the Product organization and with marketing, finance, risk, compliance and technology teams to deliver best-in-class solutions.

Stakeholder Management:

  • Foster strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including financial institutions, partners, and service providers.
  • Serve as a key spokesperson for the Affluent Segment, representing Visa at industry events and forums.
  • Ensure alignment and collaboration across various functions and regions to drive successful product launches and initiatives.

Team Leadership:

  • Lead and mentor a high-performing team of direct and dotted line reports, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence.
  • Provide guidance and support to team members, enabling their professional growth and development.
  • Drive accountability and performance through clear objectives and regular feedback.

International Focus:

  • Leverage significant international experience to drive global strategies and adapt them to regional markets.
  • Ensure a deep understanding of highly diverse market dynamics and industry landscapes as well as consumer behaviors and preferences across different geographies.

Future Segment Strategy planning and development

  • While the initial focus of this role will be on Affluent Segments, the role-holder will also need to plan for development of strategies to appeal to and drive Visa preference amongst.
     

This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • 12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 10 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters/MBA /JD/MD), or a minimum of 5 years of work experience with a PhD

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 15 or more years of experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 12 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, or MD), PhD with 9+ years of experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, or a related field, MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in payments, banking, or financial services, with a strong focus on customer segmentation and affluent/HNW consumers.
  • Proven track record of developing and delivering successful product strategies and propositions for affluent segments.
  • Strong experience in developing and managing Affluent or other segment focused propositions at a scheme or issuing bank, with a keen understanding of issuer and Visa economics as well as the impact of regulation and market landscape factors on these economics
  • Exceptional cross-functional stakeholder management skills, with the ability to ability to build strong, positive relationships across a wide range of teams in Visa
  • Capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously, exhibiting exceptional problem-solving skills, and with an ability to identify solutions and how these can be leveraged speedily
  • Strong leadership and people management capabilities, with experience leading teams in a matrixed environment and a proven ability to attract and develop star junior talent
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts to senior leaders and external partners.
  • Significant international experience, with a deep understanding of global markets and consumer behaviors.

Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 213,000.00 to 332,950.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity. Visa has a comprehensive benefits package for which this position may be eligible that includes Medical, Dental, Vision, 401 (k), FSA/HSA, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, and Wellness Program.
