About the role:
Winona is looking for a proactive and detail-oriented full-time remote Communications Assistant to join our dynamic social team. The Communications Assistant will assist in the execution of PR strategies and campaigns, manage media relations, and support various communication efforts. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, a passion for storytelling, and a keen interest in media trends.

Key Responsibilities:
Earned Media & Media Relations
Assist the Head of Social in developing and implementing PR strategies and campaigns.
Draft, distribute, and track media pitches, and other PR materials.
Build and maintain media relationships; handle media inquiries and coordinate interviews.
Engage with reporters on social media.
Maintain and update media contact lists, databases, and distribution lists.
Craft personalized pitches tailored to journalists, enhancing outreach effectiveness.
Track the progress of outreach efforts meticulously.
Conduct research on industry trends, competitors, and media outlets.
Owned Media & Content Strategy
Assist in publishing content on brand-owned channels (blogs, email campaigns, social media).
Collaborate with writers, editors, and contributors to generate content.
Work with our social media manager and sync on any social initiatives
Media Monitoring & Analysis
Implement and use media monitoring tools to track media coverage.
Monitor media coverage, compile press clippings, and prepare regular reports on PR activities and metrics.
Prepare regular reports on media coverage and campaign performance.
Corporate Communications
Use various communication channels (email, intranets, Slack) to ensure message delivery.
Organize and maintain PR files, documents, and archives.
Provide administrative support, including scheduling and calendar management.
PR Reporting
Create and share PR reports with executives and cross-functional teams.
Analyze PR results and communicate their impact on the brand.
Maintain comprehensive outreach efforts for bi-monthly reporting, compiling data and insights.
Media Measurement
Use metrics to connect PR campaign goals with business outcomes.
Provide insights to improve future PR efforts.
Speaking Engagements
Assist in organizing and preparing for speaking events and webinars.
Create presentations and talking points for speakers.
Research and identify suitable podcasts for outreach, coordinating efforts with the SEO manager.
Track the progress of podcast appearances.
Multimedia Development & Visual Storytelling
Support the development of multimedia content.
Ensure consistency with brand positioning and messaging.
Event & Experiential Marketing
Research PR-related events and venues, contributing to event coordination.
Ensure events align with brand messaging and generate positive media exposure.
Social Media & PR Sync
Assist in the collaboration between PR and social to highlight new initiatives for maximum coverage.
Data Journalism
Collaborate with data scientists to create marketable stories from data.
Use data to support media pitches and brand content.
Trend Spotting
Identify and capitalize on emerging media trends.
Use media monitoring tools to spot and act on trends early.
Reputation Management
Monitor and manage the company’s online reputation.
Research awards and other media opportunities.
Community Relations
Support efforts to build positive relationships with local communities.
Engage in activities that enhance community goodwill.
Requirements:
At least 3 years of experience in PR or Marketing.
Strong writing and communication skills, with the ability to craft clear and compelling messages.
Experience working with media relations, including pitching and managing inquiries.
Familiarity with social media platforms and tools.
Familiarity using ClickUp.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Must be available to work from 12 PM to 5 PM EST.
Nice-to-haves:
Background in communications, public relations, journalism, or related field.
Experience working in a PR/Marketing/Events agencies.
Experience organizing/mounting events.
