Senior Technical Trainer

The Senior Technical Trainer will lead the design, development, and execution of technical and non-technical training for the Base Operations team. This includes new hire orientation, high-voltage interaction and safety, CAN diagnosis, component-level repairs, equipment and tooling overviews, and general autonomous and electric vehicle knowledge. The role also involves communicating policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure alignment across the team. Additionally, the Sr. Technical Trainer will collaborate across the organization to align training management systems and standardize content. This position requires experience leading a small technical trainer team and managing internal training teams and third-party training vendors. The Sr. Technical Trainer will also be responsible for developing a structured roadmap for the training curriculum and managing a technician leveling system to support career progression.


In this role, you will:
  • Develop a roadmap for a structured training curriculum, ensuring comprehensive skill development. Research, analyze, and identify specific training needs to support team objectives. Develop evaluations to assess the effectiveness of training programs.
  • Select appropriate delivery methodologies and develop lesson plans, instructional materials, and student handouts. Create and manage a technician leveling system to support career progression and skill advancement.
  • Develop and administer an ongoing training program that supports employee growth from onboarding through advanced technical and leadership development.
  • Lead a team of technical trainers, ensuring consistency and effectiveness in training delivery. Manage internal training teams and third-party training vendors to meet training objectives. Work closely with internal and external teams to define requirements for all training types.
  • Collaborate heavily with Manufacturing to align on End-of-Line (EOL) repair training, maintaining common elements where possible.
  • Schedule and conduct classroom, online/virtual, and on-the-job hands-on instruction.


Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience developing technical training in the automotive or a highly related field.
  • Experience leading a team of technical trainers along with third-party training vendors.
  • Excellent presentation abilities, as well as verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven interpersonal, coaching, and mentoring abilities.Strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Ability to prepare, reproduce, and deliver training materials.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms). Technical and analytical proficiency


Bonus Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Workforce Education & Development, Automotive Technology, Industrial Technology/Design, or a related field.
  • Experience in the AV industry, advanced robotics, or similar industries


There are three major components to compensation for this position: salary, Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. The salary range for this position is $100,000 to $160,000. A sign-on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level. Leveling and positioning within a level are determined by a range of factors, including, but not limited to, a candidate's relevant years of experience, domain knowledge, and interview performance. The salary range listed in this posting represents the range of levels Zoox is considering for this position.
