Job Description

AECOM is seeking a noise and vibration scientist (NVS) to perform noise surveys and analysis and noise monitoring, and/or technical report preparation.  The position requires the NVS to design noise studies to gather the requisite field data to be input into noise modelling software. 

Responsibilities will also include:

  • Use data provided by third parties and/or field collected data the NSV will execute noise models to determine noise levels for various projects.
  • Conduct vibration studies and analyses.
  • Manage large data bases and be able to produce technical reports and contribute to the preparation of environmental documentation to satisfy federal (NEPA) and state (e.g., SEQRA) requirements.

This is a hybrid position located in one of AECOM's New York City or New Jersey Offices.  The position will require occasional field work in both urban and rural communities.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • BA/BS in Physics, Mathematics, Engineering or related field or demonstrated equivalency of experience and / or education.
    • Familiarity with GIS or AutoCAD
    • Valid Driver’s License and as a condition of employment must be able to pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records review.
    • Due to the nature of work, US Citizenship is required.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Masters' Degree in Physics, Mathematics, Engineering or related field.
    • 1+ years of experience in noise and vibration analysis and modelling.
    • Knowledge of NEPA, SEQRA
    • Familiarity with construction equipment
    • HAZWOPER (40-hour) certification or similar health and safety training.
    • Willing and able to work in the field and sometimes in inclement weather.
    • Able to work individually or as member of a team and take the initiative to resolve problems, communicate with others, and create improved procedures to assure tasks are completed in an efficient manner.
    • Able to interact in a professional and respectful manner with client representatives.
    • Familiarity using Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Outlook, etc.
    • Possess strong organization, oral, written, and objective analytical skills.
