Mechanical Design Engineer

Amphenol NovaSensor MEMS Packaging Design Engineer Amphenol Advanced Sensors is a leading global manufacturer of sensors and sensor-based systems for the automotive, heavy equipment, healthcare, pharmaceutical, biotechnical and other industrial markets. Amphenol Advanced Sensors consists of the product brands Kaye, NovaSensor, Protimeter, Telaire & Thermometrics which have been industry leaders for over 70 years. Amphenol Advanced Sensors has additional operations in the Americas, Europe and Asia, and has approximately 1,500 employees worldwide. Our Fremont NovaSensor facility is an R&D site that designs MEMS based pressure sensors for multiple industries for mid to high volume applications.  The successful candidate would need to design and contribute to every aspect of launching a product from inception to production. Knowledge of volume assembly techniques and practices as well as industry quality initiatives would help complete the cross functional engagement needed to fully deliver on this role. Qualifications: BS, MS or equivalent knowledge in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science or related fields 3+ years experience in the field of MEMS and MEMS Packaging design Duties to include generation of MEMS-based concept designs and detailed part/assembly drawings with appropriate use of GD&T using SolidWorks Preferred understanding of a standard New Product Introduction release process and typical requirements Preferred FEA experience using ANSYS Preferred experience with FMEA’s, DFSS & DFM tools and implementation Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)   Responsibilities will include Initiate new MEMS-based prototype/product designs for new business opportunities Create product documentation using a standard product release procedure Generate information needed for complete technical design review as needed Interface with both customers, vendors and internal cross functional teams as needed to deliver project deliverables Help define the production assembly line and equipment requirements Propose and develop new product design techniques and processes as needed to keep pace with changing industry demands Working closely with other engineers to build and test initial prototype concepts and assemblies collating performance data for initial design validation and to gain confidence for product release. Design test fixtures to test new prototype designs as needed Perform root cause and failure analyses to understand required design changes Support legacy products already in production as needed Conduct periodic benchmarking of designs, materials and processes.    Additional Attributes Self-motivated Well organized Excellent written and verbal communication skills Problem solving ability Ability to work in a fast paced environment Some travel as required
