Ideal for students who have begun gaining relevant experience and are building their skills through internships, part-time jobs, or significant projects. Typically aimed at sophomores or juniors who have completed a combination of introductory and advanced coursework.

Job Summary

Assist New Student Orientation leadership by directly interacting with and guiding participating new students. Provide advice and support based on personal experiences at BYUH, helping new students transition smoothly into campus life.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Guides new students through New Student Orientation events, ensuring they understand the schedule and participate in activities.
  • Answers questions and greets new students and their families, resolving routine questions or issues following established procedures and guidelines.
  • Shares personal experiences and insights about academic, social, and campus life at BYUH to help new students acclimate.
  • Facilitates small group discussions and activities, fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment.
  • Assists with check-in and registration processes, ensuring all new students receive necessary materials.
  • Supports New Student Orientation leadership by performing clerical tasks such as data entry and filing documents.
  • Uses office machines such as copiers, scanners, and desktop computers to assist with administrative tasks.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the orientation coordinator.

Education

  • Must be a current upper-level student at BYUH.

Work Experience

  • At least 3 months of general work experience, preferably as a current or previous Holokai Foundations Mentor.

Physical Demands

  • Typical office environment and outdoor campus activities during orientation events. May involve standing or walking for extended periods.
