Product Data Analyst

The Product Analytics team is at the forefront helping define, create and monitor key performance indicators and metrics for the Product organization. The team is small but mighty in helping our Research and Development department use metrics to guide Roadmap decisions and OKRs. We dive deep and research user behaviors to increase adoption, retention and growth opportunities. We have exposure to the most innovative projects at Chainalysis and use blockchain data to enrich our analysis for cross-functional stakeholders..

Our ideal candidate is comfortable in a nascent and fast-paced space with a lot of ambiguity, enjoys translating complex questions into well-defined quantitative problems, and is capable of building scalable analytics solutions to answer these questions. The analytical products, content and dashboards you build will help us understand the drivers of success metrics and make informed business decisions.

For this role, we have a preference for candidates who are in Ontario, Canada or remote in the United States and reside within the Eastern Timezone due to the partnership and working hours overlap with our European teams.

In this role, you’ll:

  • Be an expert in accessing and analyzing all of Chainalysis’ datasets including product usage, customer, blockchain and other datasets.

  • Become an expert in our product portfolio, how our users engage with them and have driven insights to key stakeholders.

  • Own and speak to key metrics across the product portfolio with a deep expertise in Chainalysis specific data and analytics concepts.

  • Treat our data as a product and help to scale the company’s analytics platforms, trained folks to leverage BI tools, and provided your colleagues with actionable insights.

  • Translate questions into quantitative questions, uncover the inputs into our success metrics and developed actionable insights that have influenced our leadership teams to identify critical areas of improvement.

  • Built KPI metrics and planned data analysis roadmaps to meet the operational and performance tracking requirements across teams.

  • Present complex yet actionable findings or insights to leadership that have directly impacted the company.

We’re looking for candidates who have: 

  • SaaS Product Experience - working with Product Teams or with SaaS products.

  • Build product metrics around engagement, adoption, retention and expansion.

  • Ability to translate ambiguous questions into quantitative problem statements through structure, complex analysis, implement large scale analytical solutions and drive insights.

  • Intermediate skills in SQL, Tableau, Data Warehouse solutions (e.g., Redshift, Databricks, Snowflake) and Product Analytics Tools (like Pendo, Amplitude, Mixpanel).

  • An interest in statistical concepts such as regression, time series, correlation, segmenting and forecasting.

  • A Just Do It attitude and ability to move with urgency and customer obsession.

  • An ownership mindset - acts and makes decisions on behalf of the company, not just the team. Never heard of the words “not my job”.

Nice to have experience:

  • Blockchain/Crypto Experience

  • Parsing structured and unstructured data in JSON, parquet and other formats

  • Experience working with Salesforce

  • Source control using Git

  • Python

  • dbt

  • Business Intelligence, Data Modeling & Querying: dbt, SQL, Tableau, DataGrip

  • Data Storage & Compute: AWS Redshift, AWS S3, Databricks

  • Data Engineering: dbt, Fivetran, Dagster, Airflow, Python
