Job Description

Within the organization R&D Truck and Bus Tires, Truck Tire Mechanics is part of Virtual Development CVT. We support product and technology development with advanced simulations and tire mechanical knowledge. Our simulation methods are the core for virtual tire development.

Would you like to be part of a motivated team shaping the future of virtual tire development? 

As a Truck Tire Mechanics Engineer, your responsibilities are:

  • Development and maintenance of simulation methods for performance prediction in virtual tire development
  • Application of advanced and non-standard simulations to support product and technology development
  • Coordination of model setup, simulation execution and results reporting
  • Generating and applying tire mechanical knowledge to recommend tire design changes and in problem-solving tasks
  • Strategic development of automated tire building and molding simulation (AutoCTL) within Truck&Bus to support tire building and virtual development
  • Leading projects for simulation method development and tire performance improvements
  • Extend our performance prediction portfolio using data science and AI tools
  • Support and train colleagues worldwide in simulation methods and procedures

Qualifications

  • Academic Degree in science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM)
  • Strong mechanical background. Tire mechanical knowledge beneficial
  • Keen interest and experiences in answering mechanical questions using numerical methods and simulations
  • Project management experience
  • Working knowledge of Windows and Linux/Unix operating systems
  • Experience in Finite Element Methods. Knowledge of commercial FE software (e.g. Abaqus) beneficial
  • Programming skills
  • Fluent English skills (written and spoken)
  • International experience is beneficial
  • High level of ownership and analytical thinking
  • Eagerness to grow and learn
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team
