The Supervisor of Network Engineering will lead a team responsible for designing, implementing, supporting, and optimizing network architectures while ensuring alignment with organizational objectives. This includes capturing product requirements, facilitating communication between functional teams, and driving the development and implementation of best practices to support Hackensack Meridian Health's (HMH) network infrastructure. The role involves overseeing the design, and implementation of the network (Plan Build Team) and/or ensuring the delivery of services meets Service Level Agreements (SLAs) through monitoring and continual improvement (RUN Team), with a focus on aligning tactical and strategic organizational goals.

Responsibilities

A day in the life of a Supervisor of Network Engineering at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

  • Lead, mentor, and motivate a team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment with a focus on team growth through interaction with technical Subject Matter Experts (SMEs).
  • Conduct performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and identify training and development opportunities. 
  • Delegate tasks effectively and ensure project updates are communicated to project managers and/or SLAs are communicated to the network engineering manager.
  • Approve network design and implementation (specific to the Plan Build Supervisor).
  • Oversee the design, implementation, optimization, and/or troubleshoot a complex network infrastructure, including but not limited to LAN/WAN, wireless networks, and firewalls.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and policies.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry best practices.
  • Collaborate effectively with other IT teams, stakeholders, and project managers.
  • Communicate information clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Participate in project meetings, provide regular status updates, and/or identify opportunities to lead process improvements. 
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
  • Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of related IT experience.
  • Minimum of 8+ years of IT experience preferably in healthcare or related field(s).
  • Demonstrated project management skills and results-driven through teamwork while showing empathy toward others.
  • Knowledge of advanced techniques, theories, and processes to complete work.
  • Team player and ability to multitask in a progressive environment.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of organization and staff in one-to-one settings and group presentations.
  • Works independently and effectively manages time unsupervised. 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborates with other Team Members across departments.
  • Identifies gaps in Team Members' skills and provides growth opportunities. 
  • Self-motivated and strengths that include team leadership, team building, communication, coaching, and providing timely, essential feedback to others.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.

Licenses and Certifications Preferred:

  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA).
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP).
  • Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE).
  • Information Technology Infrastructure Library 4 (ITIL 4).
