Our Story

Hello there. We’re Zopa.

We started our journey back in 2005, building the first ever peer-to-peer lending company. Fast forward to 2020 and we launched Zopa Bank. A bank that listens to what our customers don’t like about finance and does the opposite. We’re redefining what it feels like to work in finance. Our vision for a new era of banking puts people front and centre — we’ve built a business that empowers everyone to aim high, every day, to move finance forward. The Team

Our Information Security team, a dynamic group of 16 Zopians, is at the forefront of protecting Zopa. Comprising Security Operations, Identity and Access Management, Security Engineering, and Application Security, our team ensures the safety and integrity of our operations. This role sits in our Security Operations and Engineering team, who play a critical role in fortifying Zopa’s security posture. They are vigilant in detecting, analysing, and responding to security events, all while continuously enhancing our preventive measures. Their tireless work shields Zopa from a broad spectrum of internal and external threats, ensuring that we remain a trusted and secure financial institution.

Ways of working

We like to strike a balance between flexibility whilst also appreciating in-person collaboration, so we are looking for people that can commit to one to two working days per week in our London Bridge office.

The role:
  • You'll be responsible for reviewing and responding to security event tickets created in Jira. This involves analysing the nature of the security event, determining its impact, and deciding on the appropriate response.
  • You will participate in incident response activities, which include identifying, investigating, and resolving security incidents, ensuring that our systems are protected against threats.
  • You’ll monitor various security tools and systems, including the Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) tool, to detect any unusual activity. As you gain experience, you’ll have the opportunity to design and implement alerts within our SIEM tool, Splunk.
  • You will create detailed reports on security incidents and maintain documentation related to security procedures and incidents, contributing to the overall security posture of Zopa Bank.
  • You will stay updated with the latest security threats and defence mechanisms, ensuring that Zopa Bank remains resilient against emerging threats.

About you:
  • You are a strong communicator who can effectively explain technical information to non-technical stakeholders, ensuring clarity and understanding across the team.
  • You have some technical experience, perhaps in IT or help desk support, and a passion for learning about security trends.
  • You enjoy keeping up-to-date with the latest in security, whether through podcasts, articles, conferences, or other resources, and show a strong willingness to continuously improve your knowledge.
  • You thrive in a supportive, dynamic team environment and are eager to contribute to the success of the team through your proactive and positive approach.
  • You may have previous security-specific experience, and familiarity with Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) tools, particularly Splunk, is a bonus.
