We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Revenue Accountant to join our finance team at Instructure, Inc. The Senior Revenue Accountant will play a pivotal role in ensuring accurate revenue recognition and compliance with accounting standards and regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in revenue accounting within the software industry and a deep understanding of ASC 606 guidelines.

Location: The preference is to be on-site at our Salt Lake City headquarters, however, we are open to remote for the right candidate.

What you will be doing:

Perform revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606 guidelines, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
Analyze contracts, agreements, and sales arrangements to determine appropriate revenue recognition treatment.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Sales, Legal, and Operations to review and assess revenue implications of new deals and offerings.
Prepare and maintain documentation supporting revenue recognition policies and procedures.
Assist in the implementation and enhancement of revenue recognition software and systems.
Conduct periodic reviews and reconciliations of revenue-related accounts.
Participate in internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and support.
Stay updated on changes in accounting standards and regulations related to revenue recognition.
Provide guidance and support to junior team members, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment.

Here's what you will need to know/have:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or equivalent certification required.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in revenue accounting, preferably within the software industry and public accounting.
Thorough understanding of ASC 606 revenue recognition guidelines.
Strong analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems (Netsuite)
Experience with revenue recognition automation tools is a plus.
