HOURLY RATE: $22.00 to $23.25


SUMMARY

Elder Abuse Enhanced Multidisciplinary Teams (E-MDTs) bring together professionals from various disciplines to review cases of elder abuse and coordinate multidisciplinary approaches for intervention responses for each case. The E-MDT Fraud Prevention Coordinator supports functioning E-MDTs and provides training and education and consultation regarding fraud, scams and identity theft prevention and intervention within the NYS E-MDT hub regions. The E-MDT Scam Prevention Coordinator will be responsible for providing case consultations with professionals assisting older adult victims of fraud, scams, and identity theft. The E-MDT Scam Prevention Coordinator will also implement educational curricula appropriate for professional audiences on topics related to fraud, scams, and identity theft prevention throughout New York State. The position will require an individual with solid leadership public speaking, organizational and clinical skills as well as an ability to think critically and adapt communication styles for different audiences orally and in writing. 


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Program Operations

  • Acts as an expert resource for NYS E-MDTs, other UpEAC staff and Lifespan personnel around fraud, scams and identity theft.
  • Acts as a resource for NYS E-MDTs for the OVS Crime Victim Compensation Program. 
  • Participates in local and statewide E-MDT meetings, as available.
  • Presents in-person or virtually, to professionals who work with older adults, and other stakeholders. 
  • Interacts and networks with E-MDT member agencies and organizations to identify needs and provide education.
  • Provides scam prevention, intervention, and education services to E-MDT Coordinators, statewide E-MDTs and E-MDT member agencies. 
  • Assists with tracking and maintaining outcome data to assess program impact and achievement of goals and objectives.
  • Keeps up to date on emerging scams and frauds and effective prevention strategies.
  • Possible expansion of role to include limited direct intervention with scam victims, as needed and with approval. 
  • Participates in Lifespan and UpEAC staff meetings and trainings.
  • Adheres to agency policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

  

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree in human services, criminal justice, or related field, required.

EXPERIENCE: Two years experience working directly with older adults, preferred.

Experience in developing education curricula and public speaking, preferred.

Knowledge of consumer issues and legal resources, preferred.


PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

· At least half of work is performed at a desk or at a personal computer station.

· Ability to travel throughout NYS. 

· Ability to stand for at least one hour at a time during presentations.

· Excellent verbal, written and telephone communication skills are required.

· Public speaking is required.

· Comfort with virtual collaboration and ability to build and maintain relationships remotely.

· Ability to maintain composure under strict deadlines.

· Ability to work in multi-cultural situations.

Salary/Hourly Rate

Multiple factors will be considered for salary/hourly determination including, years of relevant service, skills required, education, and internal equity,
