JOB TITLE SUMMARY

Job Title: Residential Community Coordinator

Department: Student Affairs

Evaluation Group: Staff

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Reports To: Associate Director, Residential Life

Positions Supervised: Lead Office Assistant, Student Employee; Office Assistant, Student Employee; Resident Assistant, Student Employee

Review of applications will begin on 4.30.2025 and will continue until the position is filled. The anticipated start date for the successful candidate is 6.6.2025 or later.

Job Summary

The residential community coordinator is responsible for two or more residence halls or non-traditional residential housing locations. This position serves as a role model, facilitator, leader, and essential employee in the effective operation of the Residential Life program.

The residential community coordinator is an at-will employee who is appointed to a year-round, full-time, live-in position. The residential community coordinator recognizes that their primary residence in Lindenwood’s housing is a required term and condition of employment, and that the residential community coordinator’s right to Lindenwood housing terminates upon the residential community coordinator’s separation from employment as a residential community coordinator.  The residential community coordinator agrees to abide by the terms and conditions set forth in the Lindenwood Housing Contract and Lindenwood’s Residential Housing Policies and Procedures, including any and all occupancy limits set forth in those agreements. 

Essential Job Functions and Performance Indicators

The intent of this job description is to provide a representation of the types of duties and level of responsibility that will be required of positions given this title. Job Responsibilities and Execution

  • Supervises, trains, and evaluates student employees
  • Understands and manages student conflict
  • Oversees the Residence Hall Association operations within the hall
  • Fosters a community environment, encouraging students’ intellectual, social, and personal growth
  • Serves as a member of the professional staff on-call duty rotation
  • Leads residential operations support in the summertime and as needed
  • Manages maintenance and custodial needs for either a residential area or residence halls
  • Assists in crisis intervention and serves as a resource or referral agent during the academic year, including breaks and holidays
  • Maintains office hours to meet with residents
  • Oversees the planning of events and programs led by residential staff
  • Conducts health and wellness checks as needed
  • Holds one-on-one monthly meetings with student employees
  • Organizes and schedules work for community advisors and assistant area coordinators, including hall coverage
  • Manages and approves student employee timesheets
  • Conducts minor disciplinary meetings
  • Participates in resident life administrative operations, committee assignments, and task forces

  • Supports the mission of the University and serves as an ambassador of the Q2 culture of service excellence
  • Models, supports, and holds others accountable to the University’s values
  • Organizes and promotes activities and programs within the residence halls
  • Maintains familiarity with University resources in order to make referrals and provide general information

Communication, Teamwork, and Collaboration

  • Understands, supports, and enforces University policies
  • Helps students experiencing emotional, academic, or physical hardships, suggests referrals as appropriate
  • Assists in conducting residence hall professional staff training
  • Provides innovative means of communication with residents
  • Collaborates with appropriate staff to resolve maintenance, furniture, inventory, and safety issues

Job may require other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications – An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered. Additional requirements may be designated by position.

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, college personnel administration, psychology, counseling, or related field
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in residence life preferred
  • Experience in programming, health and wellness, and/or student conduct preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities – May be representative, but not all inclusive, of the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform this job competently.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures
  • Clear understanding of student development theories
  • Proficient use of web portals, software management tools, e-mail, Microsoft Office Suite, and Adobe Suite
  • Basic knowledge of facility management
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Knowledge of StarRez, Workday, and Qualtrics
