General Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and strategic Director of Strategic Communications to join our Communications team at Qualcomm. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating and executing a comprehensive, content strategy that will be rooted in best of class storytelling, and aligned with Qualcomm’s business goals and vision. This role involves working with cross-functional teams across the organization to drive the strategy, creation, calendaring and execution of compelling stories that resonate with multiple audiences.


Key Responsibilities:
•    Content strategy: Create and sell a content strategy for external communications, used broadly across Marketing and that aligns with internal and external calendar of industry and business events, aligned with company strategy and macroenvironment.
•    Develop Integrated Story Arcs: Craft and execute cohesive and compelling narratives, for the company but also for the CEO and other executives, on key stages and moments in time.
•    Lead focused team of messaging experts: Create company level messaging and storytelling and drive the consistent use of it across the company. 
•    Trend Analysis and Industry Understanding: Analyze industry trends and leverage insights to shape content strategy, corporate messaging and thought leadership.
•    Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with various departments, including marketing, product management, and engineering, to ensure impactful and consistent storytelling across written, spoken, and visual platforms such as presentations and video.
•    Translate Complex Information: Transform technical concepts and data-driven business insights into accessible and engaging narratives for both business and consumer audiences.
•    Project Management: Manage multiple, high-profile projects with a detail-oriented approach, ensuring timely and effective execution.

This is an office-based position located in San Diego, CA that will be expected to work from the office in accordance with Qualcomm’s Onsite Work Policy.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or related work experience.
OR
Associate's degree or equivalent degree and 10+ years of Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or related work experience.
OR
High school Diploma or equivalent and 12+ years of Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or related work experience.

*Completed advanced degrees in a relevant field may be substituted for up to two years (Master’s = one year, Doctorate = two years) of work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

•    Relevant Experience: 10-15+ years of relevant communications experience, with a focus on strategic planning within corporate communications, internal communications, public relations, product marketing, or strategy consulting.
•    Executive Engagement: Proven experience working directly with C-level executives and SVPs.
•    Proven Success: Demonstrated track record in strategic planning and execution within corporate communications and/or marketing.
•    Technology Understanding: Strong understanding of technology and impact on Qualcomm’s business and strategy.
•    Creativity: Ability to translate complex topics into compelling stories that are expressed in written, spoken, and visual formats.
•    Analytical Skills: Analytical approach to identifying trending topics and issues with a defined point of view.
•    Project Management: Detail-oriented approach to managing multiple, high-profile projects.
•    Background and Education: MBA with management consulting and/or technical background preferred.

Pay range and Other Compensation & Benefits:

$187,000.00 - $280,600.00

The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted. Even more importantly, please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Qualcomm.  We also offer a competitive annual discretionary bonus program and opportunity for annual RSU grants (employees on sales-incentive plans are not eligible for our annual bonus).  In addition, our highly competitive benefits package is designed to support your success at work, at home, and at play.
