PURPOSE:

This position is responsible for everything lab-related; ensures that the lab runs smoothly and that all machines and

equipment are maintained and are in excellent working order; ensures that lab assistants and staff know their

assigned jobs and do their work effectively and efficiently; ensure that the lab follows rules and regulations provided

by the state or the company.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides dermatology medical laboratory diagnostic information and services by establishing specimen
  • preparation procedures, developing and implementing analytical procedures and consults with pathologists.
  • Maintains lab equipment performance by establishing quality standards, developing operations, quality and
  • troubleshooting procedures, ensuing staff compliance.
  • Arranges equipment replacement, service and repair.
  • Responsible for managing and supervising the lab staff.
  • Oversees the lab process to ensure quality outcomes.
  • Ensures lab is adequately stocked with necessary supplies; conducts inventory and orders accordingly.
  • Ensures lab is kept up to date with appropriate supplies and equipment.
  • Ensures that all materials and sanitized and well kept.
  • Implements new programs, tests, methods, instrumentation, and procedures by investigating alternatives,
  • preparing proposals, developing and performing parallel testing and monitoring progress.
  • Responds to physicians and patients in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Coordinates with referring physicians, physicians, and clinical staff.
  • Complies with state and professional continuing education licensure requirements by providing in-service
  • programs and monitoring outcomes
  • Bachelor’s degree in science or related discipline.
  • 3+ years of progressive management or supervisory experience.
  • COLA/CLIA regulatory expertise
