Automation Engineer

 RP is seeking an Automation Engineer to support the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). This role is ideal for a technical expert with experience developing automated solutions that improve efficiency, reduce manual effort, and enhance system performance. The Automation Engineer will focus on designing, implementing, and maintaining automation tools and frameworks.

This position is contingent upon the contract being awarded to RP Professional Services

 Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement automated solutions for system provisioning, configuration management, and deployment.
  • Develop scripts and tools to automate repetitive tasks and streamline workflows.
  • Build and maintain automated testing frameworks to support software development.
  • Collaborate with developers and system administrators to ensure seamless integration of automation solutions.
  • Monitor automation performance, identifying opportunities to improve speed, accuracy, and scalability.
  • Document automation processes, including technical specifications and user guides.
  • Ensure automated solutions adhere to security best practices and VA compliance requirements.
  • Troubleshoot automation issues and implement effective solutions.

 

  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
  • Experience with automation tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, or Azure DevOps.
  • Strong understanding of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Familiarity with containerization tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience developing automated testing frameworks for unit, integration, or performance testing.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in automation engineering, scripting, or related roles.
  • Proven experience developing automated solutions in production environments.
  • Must be eligible for a Public Trust Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting government or healthcare IT environments.
  • Experience supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs
  • Certifications such as Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, or equivalent.
  • Experience with performance testing tools such as JMeter, LoadRunner, or similar.
