Second Dinner is a remote-first studio, so while we are headquartered in Irvine, California, most of our team is fully remote across the United States. Our Platform Services Team

At Second Dinner, platform services are the backbone of our ability to deliver robust and seamless game experiences to millions of players worldwide. The Platform Services team builds and maintains infrastructure so game teams can focus on crafting the most fun and engaging player experiences possible! By ensuring a secure and robust technology backbone, we lay the foundation that enables player experience and trust for critical services such as managing accounts and in-app purchases.

Your Role

Reporting to the Engineering Lead of Platform Services, you will serve as the crucial bridge between our platform services and game implementations. You'll design and implement elegant integrations that ensure our games leverage platform capabilities while maintaining optimal performance and exceptional user experiences. Your work will directly impact how smoothly our games interact with authentication, accounts, payments, and other essential services across different platforms.

What You’ll Do:

  • Partner with game teams to design and implement clean, efficient integrations between platform services and game clients and servers

  • Develop elegant and developer-friendly SDKs and tooling that game teams can easily adopt

  • Collaborate with game teams to understand their needs and ensure platform services meet their requirements

  • Create integration patterns that optimize for performance, reliability, and developer experience

  • Document integration approaches and provide support to game development teams

  • Test and validate platform service implementations within game environments

  • Work with platform teams to improve APIs and services based on game integration feedback

  • Ensure consistent functionality across different game engines and platforms

What You’ll Need:

  • Experience working with game engines such as Unity, Unreal, or Godot

  • Deep expertise with .NET/C# or C++

  • Experience building and integrating SDKs and libraries on multiple platforms for games

  • Demonstrated success designing and implementing elegant integration of external systems into games

  • Strong focus on performance optimization and exceptional user experience

  • Excellent communication skills for working effectively with both platform and game teams

  • Problem-solving ability to create elegant solutions for complex integration challenges

  • Effective communication skills to articulate technical concepts and collaborate with cross-functional teams

  • A proactive and collaborative mindset to contribute to team success


Nice to Have, But Not Necessary:

  • Major contributions to shipped games on mobile, PC, or console platforms

  • Familiarity with platform-specific requirements (App Store, Google Play, Steam, console platforms)

  • Understanding of authentication, payment processing, and other platform service domains

  • Experience with RESTful APIs and other integration patterns

  • Knowledge of game networking principles and online service architecture

  • Experience with live service games and their unique integration challenges


The total compensation for this position includes a new hire offer base salary range of $150,000 to $195,000 USD + equity + comprehensive benefits + potential for discretionary performance bonuses.

Individual pay within this salary range may span multiple levels within the discipline and is determined by assessed job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training. It also factors in market demands and business needs. The disclosed range is not adjusted based on location and may be subject to change or modification based on business needs in the future. Your recruiter can answer any questions about new hire total compensation during the hiring process.
