Student internships provide developmental opportunities for the right candidates, to put theory into practice and gain valuable work experience that is personally and professionally rewarding. Current enrollment in an engineering program as an undergraduate or graduate in a 4-year college or university. This is a year-round part time position and requires reliable transportation.The interns will be supporting projects that will help update our 3D models and databases. This will include adding material data, tracking, and documenting. Support the development of Design Drafting Standards. They may support field visits to gather information for 3D modeling purposes. Help in the creation of reports and presentations.$23.25 - $39.90 / hourQualificationsEducation• Sophomore/Junior or Senior with at least two semesters or quarters before graduation. Students in their Master's and PhD Engineering programs may be considered.• Full-time student in a College or University Engineering program, in the process or mechanical engineering disciplines preferred. Other engineering disciplines may be considered.• A 3.0 Cumulative GPA or above is required and maintain the 3.0 throughout the internship.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities• Solid understanding of fluid flow, thermal dynamics, piping systems and computer applications preferable.• Must be able to analyze significant amounts of data and develop multiple options and scenarios in reaching decisions.• Must be able to manage and implement multiple projects and to coordinate assigned activities and individual projects.• Knowledge of Power BI, Visio, Excel, AutoCAD, 3D Modeling and MS Office is preferable.• Must clearly and concisely communicate technical information and concepts in formal and informal settings with other departments in the company.• Strong communications skills. This position requires constant communication with people of various levels of work experience; must be willing to learn from others, be self-motivated to perform tasks that are simple or complex.Other Qualifications• Be able to work 16-24 hours per week on a year-round basis, with a flexible work schedule.• Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States on an ongoing basis without company sponsorship.• This is a year-round, part-time position and requires reliable transportation.• The intern is expected to work in a hybrid model, i.e. in-office 1-2 times a week.BenefitsSoCalGas offers a comprehensive benefits program to help support employees both personally and professionally.
