Summary of Job Duties:

The Donaghey College of STEM is seeking a creative and detail-oriented Social Media and
Communications Assistant to enhance the college’s digital presence. This role will involve
creating engaging social media content, writing newsletters, and assisting with other digital
communication efforts to highlight college initiatives, events, and achievements.


Qualifications:

Required Education and/or Experience:

  • Associate's Degree or related experience in technical writing.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and schedule social media posts across platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.) to promote college programs, faculty research, student achievements, and upcoming events;

  • Write, edit, and design newsletters to inform students, faculty, alumni, and the broader community about college news and opportunities;

  • Monitor engagement metrics and suggest improvements to increase reach and engagement;

  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and students to gather content and stories;

  • Maintain a consistent brand voice and visual style across all digital communication channels that aligns with the UA Little Rock communications office;

  • Stay updated on trends in social media and higher education marketing to enhance content strategy;

  • Assist with other digital and print communication projects as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills;

  • Basic knowledge of email marketing tools (e.g., Mailchimp, Constant Contact) is preferred;

  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and handle multiple tasks;

  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills;

  • Passion for STEM education and storytelling.
