Summary of Job Duties:

The instrument tech will be responsible for decontamination, assembling and inspecting, packaging, testing, and sterilizing instruments and/or sets. The tech will also maintain records of loads and items being removed from the department for processing, transport loads to and from SSD, and prepare proper storage for equipment. Performs routine testing, including biological tests for steam autoclaves, Sterrad, and System 1E. Assist Operating Room (OR) staff with needed supplies and equipment.


Qualifications:

Minimum Qualification:

  • High School diploma/GED.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • One year of experience as an Instrument Tech or recent certification as an Instrument Tech.

  • Certified Instrument Tech


Additional Information:

Responsibilities:

  • Performs decontamination, assembly, and packaging of medical equipment and tools.

  • Assists operating room staff. Provides staff with necessary supplies and/or equipment.

  • Loads up and transports medical instruments and equipment.

  • Performs tests on and utilizes mechanical equipment to complete duties.

  • Ensures proper storage of instrumentation.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
