About the Role

BI Architect II is responsible for architecture development and some ETL processes for SelectQuote’s data warehousing solutions.  The job candidate will have a strong understanding in data warehousing methodologies and dimensional modeling Microsoft SQL Server and AWS Redshift.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Architect new and existing data warehouse solutions
  • Work on projects and tasks assigned by a project manager
  • Participate in a multiyear project migrating warehouse objects and data from SQL Server to AWS Redshift
  • Look for warehouse improvement opportunities
  • Conduct code reviews before code is deployed to production

Skills/Abilities:

  • Troubleshoot stored procedures and other TSQL code
  • Adequate performing query tuning techniques by leveraging execution plans and understands how to work with indexes
  • Strong technical aptitude and enjoys working with data
  • Provides and welcomes feedback in a team environment
  • Must be able to adjust when there is a shift in priorities
  • Excellent communicator with individuals and groups at all levels
  • Detail oriented organized and able to manage expectations
  • Proficient in time management and able to stay on task
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with a desire to learn

Education and Experience: 

  • Experience developing in Microsoft SQL Server and AWS Redshift
  • Strong understanding in data warehousing methodologies and dimensional modeling
  • Proficient with SQL indexes refactoring and tuning
  • Python desirable but not required
  • Bachelor's Degree in IT and/or 2+ years BI and/or Data Warehouse experience

Physical Requirements:

  • Work is performed indoors with potential for exposure to safety and health hazards related to office work. Could periodically travel to other office and operational sites.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Successful candidates may be able to participate in one or more incentive compensation or short-term incentive plans, which could generate additional earnings in accordance with the terms of each plan.
