Product Designer (Sydney)

Workyard is a growing startup based out of the Bay Area, operating in the construction industry where $300 billion is spent annually on labor.  We are developing an industry changing technology SaaS solution to manage labor for construction companies.  Through a unique approach into the market, we are fundamentally changing the experience for both companies and workers by adding trust, transparency, and technology to the labor management process.  

With an ambitious product roadmap ahead, we are looking for a Mid-Level Product Designer to own end-to-end product design.  As a design-centric company, this is a highly valued, critical role and will report to our Head of Product/Co-Founder.

 This is a hybrid role: 2 days in our Sydney office (Surry Hills), 3 days remote

Responsibilities

As a Product Designer, you will play a pivotal role in designing user-centered solutions that are both visually appealing and highly functional. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand user needs, develop design concepts, and create intuitive interfaces that elevate the overall user experience. You will work directly with product management and engineering to bring it all to life. 

  • Information Architecture: Develop user flows and wireframes to effectively organize user journeys and functionality

  • Visual Design: Create engaging visual designs that reflect our brand identity and enhance usability.

  • Prototyping: Build interactive prototypes to demonstrate design concepts and gather feedback from stakeholders and customers.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with product managers and developers to ensure alignment between design and functionality.

  • Stay Current: Keep up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in UI/UX design.

Requirements

  • You’re the type of person who strives to figure how each product you use works

  • You should love both tackling problems at a conceptual level and working out intricate details in implementation

  • Obsessed with design, and you should thrive in a small highly collaborative and iterative product development environment.

  • Enjoy working closely with our teams, testing new features, and gathering feedback from stakeholders and learning feedback from customers

  • You want to make digital experiences better and enjoyable and you have a track record of building products that do exactly that

  • You have finely tuned senses for understanding user problems and addressing them through design

  • You are energized by being in a fast-paced environment and hitting timelines that others may think are unrealistic

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Design, Interaction, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

  • 4-6 years of UI/UX design experience in software, ideally Saas-based products or equivalent, and across platforms (web and mobile) 

  • Proven experience in UI/UX with a strong portfolio showcasing your design process and outcomes

  • Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Adobe Creative Suite or similar software

  • Proficient in handing off and communicate designs to engineering team

  • Strong understanding of user-centered design principles and methodologies

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate design decisions clearly

  • Self-motivated and able to efficiently run with a project without close supervision

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
