CGI Federal is looking for a Security Engineer to support multiple environments, focused on improving the cyber security posture through improved implementation and enhancement of security tool policies and processes. In this role, you will define, evaluate and implement cybersecurity monitoring and mitigation solutions. You will actively identify and mitigate a wide range of cyber risks and work closely with a variety of stakeholders. The candidate will join a multi-disciplinary team responsible for endpoint and network-based security tools as well as security automation and log consolidation platforms.
This position is located in our Fairfax, VA. office; however, a hybrid working model is acceptable.
Implement and configure security tools including vulnerability scanners, endpoint protection tools, firewalls, NIDS, SIEM and SOAR that integrate with traditional network devices (routers/switches/firewalls/etc...) as well as software defined network elements.
Support successful project deliveries and change implementations.
Conduct research and reviews of the design and implementation of network security infrastructure components to validate standards and SLA compliance.
Produce documentation of task level network security engineering specifications, diagrams and configurations.
Perform analysis of reported outage events to determine potential impact on the in-place network security infrastructure and architecture.
Participate in and suggest improvements to standard configurations, change management processes and practices.
Develop test plans, implementation plans and project timelines for various projects and tasks.
Knowledge of many aspects of information security with minimum 5 years of experience with in-depth understanding and hands on experience with many of the following areas: Firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPN, vulnerability scanners, endpoint protection tools, SIEM and SOAR.
Excellent and professional communication skills (written and verbal) with ability to articulate complex topics in clear and concise manner.
Ability to document and explain risks and vulnerabilities to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Excellent problem solving, flexibility and ability to deal with ambiguity.
Ability to work within a team environment, collaborating with technical teams across diverse disciplines (development, engineering, governance, security, etc).
Technically competent with Microsoft Office Suite (particularly with Excel) and Visio.
Experience with Security Orchestration Automation and Response (SOAR) tools such as Cortex XSOAR or Splunk Phantom.
Experience with log consolidation systems such as ElasticStack and Splunk.
Experience with ITIL service management framework.
One or more certifications like CISSP, CEH, Security +
Desired qualifications/non-essential skills required:
Understanding of legacy networking routing protocols and the interaction with cloud interconnects.
Knowledge of National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) SP 800 series standards.
Experience with network forensics, deep packet inspection, network traffic analysis and troubleshooting.
Experience with Linux based network security management and Intrusion detection systems.
CGI is required by law in some jurisdictions to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and licensure and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit-based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $99,200.00 - $219,600.00.
