CIMA+’s Project Management team is at the forefront of delivering construction projects across a wide range of industries, including institutional and heritage buildings, healthcare, public transportation, energy, infrastructure, and manufacturing. Our team of professionals is currently seeking a Project Director with relevant experience in major projects in the region of Toronto. Under the supervision of the Senior Principal Director, you will contribute to the execution and success of major projects for one of our lead clients in that region. In close collaboration with the Vice President of the Project Management sector, you will play a key role in coordinating project management as well as overseeing multidisciplinary project managers.

We offer a flexible hybrid work model, enabling you to work from home and in our Toronto office.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Developing business relationships with various internal and external clients of CIMA’s project management sector
  • Rigorously monitoring the services under your responsibility and/or that of your team, reporting to sector management on progress, technical and commercial risks, expectations, key schedule milestones, and other critical mandate elements
  • Supervising, leading, and motivating a multidisciplinary team of managers while fostering a dynamic, collaborative, and stimulating work environment
  • Collaborating with various stakeholders to identify project needs, define requirements, establish execution milestones, and determine success criteria
  • Preparing and reviewing project work plans and execution strategies to propose methodologies suited to specific conditions. Establishing budgets, resource allocation, and execution schedules
  • Closely monitoring project costs, budgets, schedules, quality, and deliverables accuracy, along with other key elements, and periodically reporting progress to clients according to the agreed frequency and format
  • Coordinating and supporting the tendering process, analyzing bids, and making recommendations
  • Leading or attending team coordination and/or technical meetings. Participating in required operational or strategic meetings within the sector or during project execution
  • Proactively managing risks and changes by conducting risk analysis and change management exercises in advance, following best practices
  • Collaborating with all stakeholders to implement appropriate mitigation measures
  • Providing expert recommendations and advice on project standards, governance, and procedures to continuously improve management practices
  • Supporting all other project aspects by implementing best project management practices

Qualifications

  • University Degree in Engineering, architecture or related discipline
  • Minimum fifteen (15) years of experience in managing projects in the construction field and in leadership roles. Experience in transportation projects and/or energy projects is considered an asset. 
  • Experience in bidding/negotiating contracts & developing strong career partnerships as well as business development skills
  • Ability to navigate complex stakeholder and technical environments
  • Advanced time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multidisciplinary teams
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office (Outlook, Word and Excel) 
  • Fluency in spoken and written English
