Finance Manager

The role will involve leading on all aspects of financial reporting and financial operations across both the Founders Forum and Tech Nation businesses. This fast-paced role will require attention to detail, strong analytical skills, a strong commercial focus, the ability to effectively manage multiple competing priorities and excellent internal and external stakeholder management.

Key areas of responsibility:

  • Oversee end-to-end finance operations and financial reporting. This includes the month and year-end close process
  • Be responsible for managing and coaching a junior accountant
  • Produce high-level quarterly management accounts including variance analysis and investigation into underlying drivers
  • Assist the CFO in partnering with our stakeholders across the business (we have investments in +10 startups that we work closely with)
  • Cashflow management, including reconciliation across all company accounts and ensuring bank accounts are funded for monthly requirements and cash efficiency is maintained
  • Produce scenario planning and sensitivity analysis, particularly around different revenue and investment outcomes
  • Assist the CFO in preparing and maintaining annual budgets and rolling forecasts
  • Work closely with teams across the business, for example, with the Operations team managing event costs and budgets and the Partnerships team on invoicing and cash collection
  • Establish and implement finance/accounting policies and procedures, as deemed necessary, to support existing business activities and growth
  • Be the person of contact for our outsourced providers, such as insurance, tax, and payroll

Experience and qualifications:

  • This role will be responsible for the day to day accounting activities, supporting the CFO and finance function, enabling the company to operate and grow efficiently. This role has lots of room for growth within Founders Forum as we grow our portfolio of companies.
  • You're fully qualified (ACA, CIMA, ACCA) with +2 years of experience post qualified
  • Previous experience in an in-house role, preferably a start-up/scale up where you've been hands on
  • You're great at building relationships with other stakeholders across the organisation
  • A self-starter with exceptional attention to detail, good at problem solving including the ability to define possible solutions, foresee issues and provide proactive solutions to closure
  • You're experienced with Accounting Software (preferably Xero)
  • You have advanced Excel and Google Sheets skills

We currently have a hybrid working model with Monday to Thursday spent in the office and Friday with the option to work remotely/from home.
