Public Safety - Campus Safety Student Guard (FWS/NFWS)

Purpose Within the Organization:

The purpose of the Campus Safety Student Guard position is to assist with GCU’s Public Safety department in an effort to keep campus safe.

Responsibilities Related to Purpose:

  • Respond to campus safety calls as necessary.

  • Directing traffic to different campus locations at booths.

  • Greet, ID, and decal check everyone coming onto campus.
  • Assist with other details as assigned by a Public Safety Supervisor or Manager.

Qualifications:  

  • Criminal Justice Studies or ROTC student preferred.
  • The ideal candidate will have a positive, friendly, and outgoing personality.
  • Customer service oriented.
  • Must be punctual.
  • Willingness to learn and able to follow procedures.
  • Responsible, trustworthy, approachable, and assertive.
  • Computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.

Education:

Grand Canyon University is committed to a student first policy.

Therefore, all applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements to be considered for student employment:

  • Enrolled as a full-time student at GCU in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program.
  • Maintain a 2.0 GPA as a bachelor's-level student or a 3.0 GPA as a master's-level student.
  • Maintain good financial standing with the University.

You may be subject to termination if you fail to meet the minimum requirements.

Physical Requirements:

  • Standing up to 10 hours a day
  • Begin working shift as early as 6am
  • End working shift as late as 10pm
  • Lifting Occasionally
  • Walking could be continuously depending on need of the department
  • Carrying Occasionally
  • Driving carts rarely (Driver License Required)
  • Work Environment: Outside for all shifts

Pay Rate: Minimum Wage

Anticipated End Date: June 30, 2025
