As an Outpatient Physical Therapist at Highbar Physical Therapy, you will focus on providing exceptional care to your patients while utilizing our top-notch support system. With a manageable patient load of 32-36 hours a week, you'll have the time and resources necessary to ensure the highest quality of care.

To qualify for the Outpatient Physical Therapist role at Highbar Physical Therapy, you must be a graduate of an accredited university with a Master's or Doctorate Degree in Physical Therapy recognized by the APTA. When assessing a patient's readiness for discharge, I would evaluate their progress towards specific therapeutic goals, consider their pain levels, and assess their ability to perform necessary daily activities independently. I would also ensure they have a clear understanding of their home exercise program and follow-up care before finalizing their discharge.

Managing difficult patients involves active listening, empathy, and effective communication. Establishing rapport is key; I aim to understand their concerns and motivations. By involving them in their treatment plan and providing continual support and encouragement, I strive to keep them motivated and engaged in their recovery process.

I stay current by regularly attending professional development workshops, engaging in continuing education courses, participating in special interest groups, and subscribing to relevant journals. I believe in the importance of sharing knowledge with my peers to collectively improve our practice.

If a patient is not progressing as expected, I would first reassess their treatment plan and consider factors affecting their recovery, such as adherence to the program or external factors. Collaboration with the healthcare team for a holistic review may also be warranted. Adjusting goals and modifying treatment based on those assessments is crucial.

In my previous role, I collaborated with a physician and occupational therapist for a patient recovering from a stroke. We regularly exchanged insights about the patient's progress and coordinated our approaches to ensure a unified treatment plan that addressed all aspects of the patient’s rehabilitation.

I approach patient education by ensuring that information is delivered in an understandable and relatable manner. I engage patients by discussing the rationale behind their exercises and treatment plans, encouraging them to ask questions while often providing take-home materials to reinforce their understanding.

In therapy, I prioritize goal-setting by developing SMART goals—Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound. Collaborating with patients to set these goals fosters ownership and motivation, leading to better outcomes and overall satisfaction with the therapy process.
