The Product Design Engineer will perform the design of product and process activities in support of new product development product line sustainment for Insulated Separable Connectors (Cable Accessories). As a Design Engineer at Hubbell in Wadsworth, Ohio, you will be at the forefront of innovation in the cable accessories business unit. Your primary mission will be the exciting journey of new product development, specifically working with insulated separable connectors like dead-break and load-break arresters. You’ll dive into creating and refining design content requirements, which include 3D models and 2D drawings, technical specs, and Multiphysics simulations, ensuring every detail is perfect through meticulous tolerance stack-up and DFMEA analysis. Working alongside a dynamic team currently engaged in several high-profile projects, you’ll also investigate customer product returns, providing critical insights through detailed technical reports. Participation in testing is essential, so you’ll be hands-on, assisting with assembly and even traveling to test sites when necessary. You'll also have the chance to contribute to standards development as part of IEEE/PES/ICC, while providing valuable technical support to various engineering teams. To thrive in this role, a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering is preferred, along with familiarization in the medium voltage or electric utility industry. Experience with tools like Autodesk Inventor and analysis software like Ansys will be a huge plus.
