Business Intelligence Developer - Tableau

Responsibilities

  • This role is a perfect opportunity to join a growing team as we expand our services and our reach across a broad organization. We are partnering with key stakeholders to define business solutions and set the stage for continued growth and profitability. The successful candidate will be acting as the primary contact for data visualization needs serving our largest internal customers. This role represents a commitment to existing and planned growth of our business intelligence service offerings. 
  • This position is an integral member of the Data Management team responsible for empowering business decisions. We implement technology solutions in a cost-effective manner by determining the requirements of a project or program, leading or participating in the requirements gathering and solution design, and implementation.
  • Our team supports reporting and analytics, sales, financials, operations, project and tools implementation, 3rd Party vendor integration and information security. We excel at creating and improving dashboards, external data augmentation and enrichment for our advanced analytics partners. Our BI developers and analysts extract data from the data warehouse and translate data concepts and standards into visualizations dashboards, KPI metrics, financials, and goals. We create high quality technical and end-user documentation by working collaboratively with internal team members and business partners.
  • Our team of data analysts and engineers provides visualization services across a myriad of business lines and products in support of the H.W. Kaufman group of companies. As a centralized IT function, we are uniquely positioned to engage with stakeholders, vendors, and executive leaders from an enterprise portfolio lens.
  • As a Tableau Developer and Visualization Engineer at HW Kaufman, you will be at the forefront of data-driven decision-making, crafting insightful visualizations that drive business growth and enhance our users’ experience. The ideal candidate will excel in data analytics, storytelling with data, cross-functional collaboration, and share a passion for continuously improving the way we use data to make the H.W. Kaufman better.
  • Through ongoing growth, H.W. Kaufman senior leaders and business units continue to expand their needs for accessible insights, division-level KPIs and metrics, and cross-platform aggregated analytics. 

 

Qualifications

Responsibilites

  • Responsible for direct communication and development of tools for our largest internal client, responsible for over 70% of data generation for Kaufman
  • Expected to participate in every stage of the software development and/or implementation lifecycle, from analysis and design through testing, release, and maintenance
  • Work on the more complex business projects, providing strong advice and counsel to engineering leadership, and our Strategy, Planning & Analysis partners to understand the most important decisions to be made on solution options, costs, timelines, designs, and implementation
  • Collaborate with our Data Engineers and Platform teams to tell that story through building and optimizing a performant, user-centric suite of infrastructure visualizations
  • Assist in mentoring more junior colleagues
  • Coordinate aggregate analytics and reporting requirements and communication with business partners, vendors and third parties
  • Participate in Logical and/or Physical Design of data sets, cache, and performance tuned analytics
  • Gather, translate, and document business requirements
  • Testing, training, and troubleshooting

 Requirements 

  • Bachelor/master’s degree in computer science, information technology, or equivalent work experience 
  • 7+ years in Information Technology and business/industry 
  • 7+ years working on moderate-to-complex analytics platforms 
  • Strong proficiency in Tableau Desktop and Server administration 
  • Experience in designing and developing complex Tableau dashboards and visualizations 
  • Demonstrated skill in data research and analysis 
  • Understanding of performance tuning of large data sets in support of a business function’s suite of analytics  
  • Strong T-SQL experience required 
  • Requirements gathering and analysis required 
  • Conversion of business and functional requirements to use cases, epics, and stories with acceptance criteria 
  • Provide systems and data integration designs based on requirements 
  • Solid understanding of relational DB, data warehouse designs, operability, and analysis and ETL concepts  
  • Testing stages through the SDLC and capability to write and execute test plans and cases and publish expected output criteria
