LHH Recruitment Solutions has partnered with a company local to Cherry Hill, NJ. We are seeking a Senior Cost Accountant. The Senior Cost Accountant is responsible for administering the accounting functions of manufacturing plants, including the preparation of all accounting and financial data in accordance with US GAAP.Position: Senior Cost AccountantLocation: Cherry Hill, NJSalary: $75-$95kReports To: Director of Cost AccountingKey Responsibilities:• Support all aspects of cost accounting for the company• Meet deadlines and follow a monthly, quarterly, and year-end close schedule• Understand inventory costing methodology• Complete the month-end close for all manufacturing locations• Create standard journal entries (labor and overhead allocations)• Review manufacturing variances and provide analysis• Complete work order accounting close and review variances for discussion with plants and costing teams; propose adjustments to Bills of Materials (BOMs) if needed• Produce production, variance, and other reports as needed by the manufacturing team• Review and analyze standard costs for variances and prepare reports• Support annual financial statement audit as it relates to cost accounting topics• Ensure completeness and accuracy of all assigned balance sheet accounts, including monthly balance sheet reconciliations• Act as a liaison between plant managers and the corporate office• Collaborate with the FP&A team monthly, quarterly, and annually to ensure complete and accurate results with meaningful variance commentary, including budget and forecast processes• Support cycle counts, annual physical inventory counts, and monitor inventory existence at third-party facilities and external manufacturing sites• Perform ad hoc analysis as requested• Work closely with plant managers to provide financial expertise and guidance• Participate in special projects as neededSupervisory Responsibilities:• Manage one employee• Supervise and mentor plant accountant, assigning tasks, providing training, and evaluating performance• Regularly review plant accounting processes to identify and rectify errors and procedural updates• Work with other plant clerical staff to ensure appropriate purchase order process and invoice submission in adherence with company policies and internal controls, as well as inventory-related adjustmentsEducation and Experience:Minimum Required Qualifications:• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting• CPA or CMA preferred but not required• 3-5 years of cost and inventory accounting experience• Experience in cost analytics• Experience in a manufacturing environment (food and beverage preferred)• Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy• Exceptional planning and organizational skills• Ability to think critically and independently• Ability to collaborate successfully with others in the organization• Ability to meet assigned deadlines• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office• Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies to maximize performance, creativity, problem-solving, and results• Previous ERP experience (QAD is a plus)Additional Preferred Qualifications:• Strategic thinker with a “roll up the sleeves” mentality• Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently• Ability to establish relationships across the organization and at various hierarchical levels• Ability to listen and seek clarification;
