The Health Information Services (HIS) Technician manages and ensures the integrity of patient chart information. All medical records are maintained in an appropriate manner in accordance with current federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations that govern medical records. An established procedure will be used to assure necessary and accurate information is on all charts. The Technician enters and retrieves all patient chart data, corrects missing or incorrect data and oversees the dissemination of patient chart information to physicians, patients, and other requestors. This role also performs clerical and customer service responsibilities including using office technology, answering and routing phone calls and processing paperwork.
REQUIRED:1. A high school diploma; one year of medical records/healthcare experience; 2. One year of business office knowledge (i.e. telephone and fax) and proficient typing skills. 3. Working knowledge of operating a PC to include use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access. 4. Good verbal and written communication skills.
