Company Information: ERMCO (Electric Research and Manufacturing Cooperative, Inc.) is headquartered in Dyersburg, Tennessee, and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Arkansas Electric Cooperatives, Inc. (AECI), Little Rock, Arkansas. With all product lines made in the USA, ERMCO is one of the largest producers of oil filled distribution transformers and transformer components in the United States.

 

Job Title: Continuous Improvement Engineer - Intern

 

Summary:  This position will utilize their skill set and expertise to solve customer-focused problems through data-based analysis. Through this effort the team will drive continuous improvement, transformation, and process enhancements across the business.

 

Position Location: Athens, GA

Responsibilities

Essential Functions include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Be an active, visible, positive change leader for the organization
  • Support continuous improvement efforts in the assigned areas of responsibility and be a willing assistant for others
  • Perform the necessary engineering work to drive successful project completion, including project definition, data collection and analysis, value-stream mapping, workflow design, information flow design, financial analysis, solution development and implementation
  • Accurately communicate status and quality of project and deliverables to team, leadership, and stakeholders

Qualifications

Qualifications Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Education and/or Experience: Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Technology, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or equivalent technology degree. Sophomore credit standing or higher.

 

Language Skills:

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers and the general public.

Other Skills:

  • Computer literacy to include the use of electronic spreadsheets and word processing. The use of other software may be required.
  • Knowledge of 2D & 3D modeling software; AutoCAD, Inventor
