OPIR Training Lead

SciTec is seeking an OPIR Training Lead for an agile software development program. This is a unique opportunity to join a small business delivering core capabilities for National defense to support our programs delivering Next-Generation Missile Warning software. You will oversee a fast-paced team delivering end-to-end software processing of Overhead Persistent InfraRed (OPIR) sensor data for Missile Warning, Missile Defense, Battlespace Awareness, and Technical Intelligence. SciTec seeks a candidate who will thrive in an environment where they can solve challenging instruction and engineering problems in support of critical national security objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the development and delivery of the Future Operationally Resilient Ground Evolution (FORGE) Mission Data Processing Application Provider (MDPAP) technical training products to support the continued operations of legacy Space-Based Infrared System (SBIRS) capabilities while delivering modernized enterprise solutions extensible to the next generation of Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) sensors.
  • Supervise the FORGE MDPAP Training Team during development and delivery of modernized mission processing training products aligned with current and future OPIR space segments and capabilities necessary to address evolving threats.
  • Lead the development of the FORGE MDPAP instructional guidance for Next Generation OPIR Programs.
  • Control the development of training products for a novel intuitive, user-defined interface to enable mission operations across an expanded space layer and improve ease of use for space operators.
  • Manage the application of disciplined system integration methods, processes, and tools to identify, assess and resolve technical training disconnects within the Missile Warning/Missile Defense Enterprise.
  • Perform hands-on instruction to train operational crews on mission data exploitation processing and dissemination for Missile Warning, Missile Defense, Battlespace Awareness and Technical Intelligence.
  • Lead meetings and technical forums such as technical interchanges, program reviews, and Training Working Groups.
  • Manage program assessments that advise customer of perceived training problems and recommend courses of action.
  • Administer critical training decision points and events to ensure the successful transition of training documents and process to the customer.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • A Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years of professional experience
  • Strong organizational skills, team-building, time-management, and conflict-resolution abilities.
  • Must have 5+ years’ experience performing operations or instruction for space systems, missile warning, missile defense, satellite communications, telemetry, tracking and commanding, space situational awareness, or overhead persistent infrared systems.
  • Must have demonstrated knowledge of satellite systems and have a comprehensive technical understanding of principles for their operation, functions, and associated internal and external system interfaces.
  • Must have understanding of Overhead Persistent Infrared Missile Warning, Missile Tracking, Missile Defense mission areas.
  • Must have experience developing and delivering detailed documents in support of training requirements.
  • Must have the ability to quickly understand the customers’ overall technical objectives and provide effective solutions.
  • Must exemplify a dedication to achieving the mission of the customer as well as high standards of quality and excellence in performing duties.
  • Must have communication skills to support a live classroom environment, including customer interactions and presentations.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced mixed government/contractor environment while prioritizing work to balance goals and deadlines.
  • Must be able to travel to a training site at located Buckley Space Force Base, as required.
  • Must hold a TS/SCI eligible security clearance.

Candidates who have any of the following skills will be preferred

  • Ability to interact, brief and develop positive relationships with both customer and company senior leadership Space-Based Infrared System operations experience as Crew Commander, Deputy Crew Commander, Mission Commander, Mission Crew Chief, Data System Operator, or OPIR Battlespace Awareness Center Operator.
  • Certified space system operator of a DoD and/or national system.
  • Experience operating multiple satellite families.
  • Experience with large scale, complex missile or space systems including familiarity with educational products, designs, program processes, and subcontractor teams.
  • Experience driving continuous instructional improvement and common process across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Ability to develop solutions to complex training problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and innovation and to ensure solutions are consistent with organization objectives.
  • Experience leading teams through an AGILE development process.
  • Active DoD Final Top Secret / Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance.

The pay range for this position is $142,000 to $162,000 / year. SciTec considers several factors when extending an offer of employment, including but not limited to the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills. This is not a guarantee of compensation.
