Quest Designer - Live Content / World building

We’re building a next-generation browser-based MMORPG — system-driven, content-rich, and scaling fast. We’ve raised $10M in funding, we have an active community (25k+ Discord) and a deeply unique vision that’s pushing the boundaries of multiplayer game design. We ship weekly content updates, and build fast. Try it here.

  • Won the Discord App Pitch 2024.
  • Over 15k WAUs in early-access.
  • Localised and played in over 30 countries.
  • 3 years into production.
  • 100+ hours of playable content already live.
  • Shipping weekly updates with a lean team.
  • Built fully in-house, no outsourced dev.

The Mission

We’re looking for a Live Content / Quest Designer who can own the weekly playable experience.

You’ll be the architect of short-form content: tight quests, emotional arcs, narrative moments, repeatable missions, and world-building that actually plays. You’ll have a stable build 7 days a week, and push content into dev/production whenever you want.

You’ll work directly with narrative, design, and live ops — with a direct line to the founder.

You’ll design content that launches weekly and lives in the game forever.

You’ll be given full autonomy to design and own:

  • Quest formats
  • Dialogue flows
  • Story arcs (1–2 week loops)
  • Repeatable content templates (e.g., faction dailies, bounty boards)
  • Event scripting
  • Narrative-driven reward loops

Why This Is the Best Job in the World for a Quest Designer

We’ve built the most advanced LiveOps quest-building system the industry has ever seen — and it’s 100% in-browser.
Check it out in this loom video

If you’ve ever dreamed of building quests in a 2D pixel MMORPG, with a real playerbase and a live world, this is where you thrive.

Building a quest takes minutes, not hours. And it’s safe — fully sandboxed and QA-tested. Here’s how it works:

  • Open your browser, load the editor, drag and drop nodes.
  • Move characters around the world, animate them with ease.
  • Create branching dialogues and choose your own adventure narratives.
  • Trigger animations, VO, and emotional prompts — auto-generated on the fly.
  • Create and give items. Spawn cutscenes. Trigger events.
  • Hit “reload” in-game. Your quest is live and playable — instantly.

No long builds. No publishing waits. No red tape.

Who You Are

  • You live to build quests — not just write docs.
  • You dive into tools, break things, and get playable demos running fast.
  • You don’t wait for approval — you ship, test, and iterate to learn.
  • You are a gameplay-focused narrative designer or quest/content designer who’s shipped live content.
  • Experienced designing repeatable and one-time narrative quest structures.
  • Obsessed with player experience, story pacing, and moment-to-moment engagement.
  • Able to write dialogue, design systems, and build experiences with minimal oversight.
  • Understands progression, rewards, and how to keep players coming back.
  • Comfortable working in a high-cadence team where shipping weekly is the norm.
  • You want to make games that mean something — and that feel good to play.
  • An IC or team player that's capable of delivering end to end content, testing and producing.
  • Using AI tools to improve the speed and quality of your work, making you a 100x designer. Our team use AI to generate storyboards for quests, character profiles for the art team to bring NPCs to life and use our internal tooling to keep quests within our lore book.

Bonus Points

  • You’ve shipped quests or content in games like: RuneScape, Genshin, Warframe, WoW, Albion, Fallout, Cyberpunk.
  • You’ve used tools like Twine, Ink, Unity, Lua, Unreal Blueprints, or custom in-house scripting tools
  • You’ve built or documented content pipelines before — even in hacky ways
  • You’ve worked in a live game or MMO and understand how LiveOps and story work together
  • You’ve done writing for games, short films, or ARGs that reached real audiences
  • A love for Sword Art Online, Ready Player One, Wow, Runescape, The Matrix.

  • Creative control over how story and systems meet the player — weekly.
  • The chance to help shape one of the most ambitious MMOs being built today.
  • A lean team where your impact is immediate and felt.
  • Access to artists and animators that can bring your characters and gameplay to life.
  • The opportunity to build founding quests in a generational MMO that will reach millions worldwide.
  • Competitive salary.
  • Flexible working arrangement, London in-office or hybrid available on discussion.
  • An internal live ops system where content is shipped in hours, not weeks.
  • A team obsessed with building something that lasts
