Overview

General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems (GD-OTS), a premier provider of ordnance weapons and tactical systems to the U.S. Department of Defense and allied nations, has an opening for a Systems Engineer Intern to join the Munitions (MUN) Business Unit (BU) Engineer team at our Bothell, WA site.

The selected candidate will work with collaborative teams on various technical projects associate with our core mission. Major Position Responsibilities

  • The right candidate should be able to demonstrate the required skills, enthusiasm and interest in the Engineering aspects the business together with an aptitude for working with various internal and external customers to achieve assigned tasks
  • Will undertake, initially, a range of administrative and support tasks for the Munitions Systems Engineering department
  • These tasks will provide the opportunity to apply basic Engineering skills in a highly active environment
  • Based on experience and abilities the intern will be assigned tasks of increasing complexity that are appropriate to the level of education and skills
  • As part of the intern position the department will have the opportunity to get to know the candidate and their suitability for potential future position within the company
  • Provides support to technical employees working in an organizational function related to the Intern's area of study

  • Assists with technical tasks and project support

  • Supports equipment set up and monitors tests and experiments

  • Observes results, collects data, and compiles summaries and reports

  • Learns technical processes and procedures

  • Job shadows other more experienced professionals and or support staff

  • May also support the documentation and updates of procedures or work instructions

  • Handles basic issues and problems

 

Basic Qualifications

  • Must be currently enrolled majoring in Engineering Systems, Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical or similar Engineering or technical degree program and/or be within 6 months of graduation 
  • Microsoft Office Applications including Outlook, Excel, Word, and Powerpoint
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work well with a diverse employee population are essential
  • Must demonstrate organizational and prioritization skills, attention to detail, and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, using discretion and independent judgement
  • Responds promptly to customer needs
  • Demonstrates persistence and overcomes obstacles with a sense of urgency
  • Works within the highest level of integrity and safety
  • Works under limited supervision

Pay Range (USD)

$23.58 - $28.17

Pay Transparency Statement

The salary range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum for salary for this position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, internal equity, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the range during the hiring process.

Benefits

Employees are eligible for medical, dental, vision, short and long-term disability, and basic life insurance as well as pre-tax spending accounts. Employees are also able to enroll in the company's 401k plan and are eligible for the Non-Contributory Retirement Contribution. PTO, Holiday, and Family Leave
