As Senior Domain Engineering Manager reporting directly to the Engineering Director, you lead two critical domains comprising seven product teams within our Source and Supply department. Leveraging your extensive experience in delivering software products and leading high-performing teams across distributed locations (Europe & India), you will partner closely with Engineering Managers to optimize team effectiveness and foster a productive engineering culture aligned with our strategic business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Strategy
Define and execute engineering strategy and roadmap for your domains in close collaboration with Product Management and Architecture leadership.
Ensure scalability, resilience, maintainability of applications within your domains aligned with company-wide technology standards.
Own the software delivery lifecycle (SDLC) processes within your domains; continuously improve engineering practices including Agile methodologies, CI/CD pipelines, DevOps culture.
People & Organizational Leadership
Directly manage Engineering Managers; mentor them on leadership skills including effective team building, performance management, coaching practices.
Foster an open culture emphasizing transparency, growth mindset, continuous learning; actively provide constructive feedback.
Delivery & Operational Excellence
Take accountability for timely delivery of domain commitments meeting quality standards.
Manage domain budgets effectively; oversee vendor relationships including contract negotiations and performance assessments.
Oversee capacity planning to ensure efficient resource allocation across distributed teams.
Stakeholder Collaboration
Foster effective cross-domain communication between internal tech platform providers and product teams.
Collaborate closely with the Engineering Director to align departmental engineering strategy with overall business objectives.
12+ years industry experience in software engineering roles; minimum 3+ years managing multiple engineering teams/managers directly.
Proven expertise in retail/e-commerce domains preferably such as Inbound Logistics, Inventory Management, Order Management Systems.
Demonstrated ability managing geographically distributed teams.
Strong system architecture/design skills with proven record of building robust and cost-effective system architectures.
Strong track record delivering complex software projects on-time/budget within Agile environments.
Solid understanding of modern engineering practices: Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban), Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD), DevOps culture adoption.
Strong stakeholder management skills; proven ability collaborating effectively cross-functionally at senior levels.
Familiarity or hands-on experience with key technologies/platforms advantageous: AWS Cloud services; Java backend development; React frontend frameworks;
Nice to have experience: ERP solutions such as SAP; Order Management platforms such as IBM Sterling OMS.
