We are looking for a Financial Controller to manage all aspects of Cognitiv's financial reporting and accounting functions, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial information. This role requires a strategic thinker with a strong foundation in accounting principles, financial analysis, and team leadership. The ideal candidate will ensure the accuracy and integrity of our financial information, support strategic decision-making, and maintain robust internal controls.​

 

This position will be located in New York City with a hybrid work schedule of 3 days in office (Mon/Tue/Wed) and 2 days remote (Thursday/Friday).


Responsibilities
  • Financial Reporting: Oversee the preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP and company policies.​
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Lead the annual budgeting process and provide ongoing forecasts to support strategic planning and decision-making.​
  • Internal Controls: Develop, implement, and monitor effective internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the accuracy of financial records.​
  • Audit Coordination: Serve as the primary liaison for external auditors, ensuring timely and efficient completion of audits.​
  • Tax Compliance: Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local tax regulations, including timely filing of all required tax returns.​
  • Team Leadership: Manage and mentor the accounting team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.​
  • Financial Systems: Oversee the maintenance and enhancement of financial systems to improve reporting accuracy and efficiency.​
  • Financial Analysis: Conduct financial analysis and provide recommendations to support strategic initiatives and operational improvements.


Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA certification required.​
  • Experience: Minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role; experience in the digital advertising or technology sector is a plus. Public accounting experience required.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software and advanced knowledge of Excel; experience with financial ERP systems is desirable.​
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.​
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.​
  • Leadership: Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams in a dynamic environment.​


Salary
  • $150,000-$180,000 Base Salary + Equity


Actual compensation is based on multiple factors that are unique to each candidate, including and not limited to job-related knowledge, level of relevant experience, education and skills. Base salary is just one component of your total rewards package at Cognitiv. Employees are eligible for equity and various benefits.
