Serve as a strategic partner and second line of defense that provides comprehensive financial support to core Business Line (Commercial, Consumer, Wealth/Institutional Services, Support Units) by overseeing the business line finance responsibilities and serving as the lead financial liaison to external examiners. Sets financial strategies and direction for the business line that support leadership’s strategic priorities, acts as a member of the division’s senior leadership team and brings perspective from both an internal to M&T and a market/industry platform. Maintains an environment of strong compliance and risk management providing control, insuring quality and accuracy of financial reporting. Provides an independent view of financial matters and utilizes financial and business metrics to help business leaders drive performance and realize targeted outcomes.

Bachelor’s degree and a minimum 11 years’ experience in Finance, Business or a related field with 4 years’ managerial experience or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 15 years’ higher education and/or work experience with 4 years’ managerial experience
Strong analytical ability and creative problem solving-skills, including knowledge and application of financial concepts and strategies
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities
Strong interpersonal skills and maturity to build relationships and interact from a business as well as a technical standpoint
In-depth knowledge of the banking industry and related financial governance and risk management principles
