Job Description

AVP Inland Marine - Fully remote position

Primary Location: Remote  

Function: Responsible for review and analysis of underwriting data to determine risk eligibility to corporate standards. Develop and manage agency relationships through excellent customer service and creative marketing activities. Seen as a technical underwriting expert within the organization and throughout their assigned agency plant and territory.

What you will do:

 

  • Provide subject matter expertise on inland marine insurance within the organization.
  • Meet profitability and written premium goals determined by the department.
  • Make independent decisions within underwriting letter of authority and maintain proper file documentation.
  • Assist in developing annual business goals for assigned brokers. Responsible for analyzing results and maintaining accountability of broker partners within the department.
  • Possess and develop a keen awareness of market trends and identify emerging threats to the department.
  • Have an in-depth knowledge of department products and services.
  • Ability to clearly articulate the department’s value proposition.
  • Participate in training and initiatives. May participate in projects.
  • Travel required which will include team meetings in Morristown, NJ, conferences, and client meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What YOU will bring to C&F:

  • A minimum of ten years’ experience underwriting inland marine business.
  • Existing relationships with regional and national brokers, agents, and producers with a focus on Inland Marine business including Motor Truck Cargo, Contractors Equipment, Builders Risk, Installation Floaters, and other miscellaneous Floaters.
  • Company and AAIS Inland Marine form experience.
  • Effective communication, analytical and negotiation skills.
  • Effective customer service and relationship-building skills, including travel for marketing and attending national industry events.
  • Must be able to work well in a small, tightly knit team environment, but also be able to work independently within an assigned underwriting authority document, territory, and appetite.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft software applications.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent, CRIS, AMIM, or CPCU preferred.
  • Will abide by departmental policies and procedures, including authority levels, to comply with C&F's risk management controls.

Crum & Forster is committed to ensuring a workplace free from discriminatory pay disparities and complying with applicable pay equity laws.  Salary ranges are available for all positions at this location, taking into account roles with a comparable level of responsibility and impact in the relevant labor market and these salary ranges are regularly reviewed and adjusted in accordance with prevailing market conditions. The annualized base pay for the advertised position, located in the specified area, ranges from a minimum of $86,600 to a maximum of $162,900. The actual compensation is determined by various factors, including but not limited to the market pay for the jobs at each level, the responsibilities and skills required for each job, and the employee’s contribution (performance) in that role. To be considered within market range, a salary is at or above the minimum of the range. You may also have the opportunity to participate in discretionary equity (stock) based compensation and/or performance-based variable pay programs.
