Director of ML Operations

The Opportunity Working under the Head of the Technology Office, the Director will be instrumental in designing and executing plans for our AI Platform that prioritize scalability, security, and alignment with our objectives. The Role Technical Expertise • Develop AI/ML models and algorithms by employing advanced principles, architectures, and frameworks. Utilize proficiency in widely-used programming languages and libraries to propel AI projects forward.• Expertise in AI platform and product design: experienced in creating, developing, or managing AI platforms, with a focus on cloud-based solutions like AWS, Azure, or Google, integrating both expansive and compact language models, whether open or closed.• Specialized data engineering skills: Designing, establishing, and preserving data pipelines, applying data processing methodologies, and managing data storage solutions tailored for AI workloads.• Develop scalable AI solutions by adhering to software engineering best practices, which involve following the software development lifecycle, incorporating DEVOPS techniques, and utilizing effective testing methodologies.Leadership and Management• Translating AI programs into actionable roadmaps that are aligned with team goals is crucial in strategic thinking.• Cultivate a culture of learning and creativity within AI teams by promoting teamwork and mentorship.• Drive cross-functional partnerships by interacting with stakeholders and leaders from disparate segments of the company.• In project management, the focus lies in supervising collaborations, achieving on-time and cost-effective completion of AI initiatives, and adeptly addressing resource allocation and risk mitigation.Strategic Vision• Maintain awareness of industry advancements in AI technology to identify potential opportunities and threats.• Spin a yarn: Weaving a tale that delves into the themes of vision and journey with flair.• Cultivate innovation: Encourage experimenting and exploring the newest AI techniques to stay ahead in the competition.• Recognizing the ethical implications of AI plays a key role in ensuring that its advancement and application are conducted with responsibility and fairness.• AI Leading the Way, its potential, and the strategic direction we are taking with our partners.• Keep yourself up to speed with the latest developments in AI and machine learning through ongoing investigation.• Clarify detailed AI concepts for non-tech colleagues to strengthen comprehension, integration, and engagement.Vendor Management:• Managing the contractual ownership arrangements with AI technology vendors.• Take charge of vendor relationships to ensure the fulfillment of service levels and contractual obligations.Financial Management:• Managing finances in excess of $10 million allocated to an AI and cloud platformTeam Leadership:• Supervise a team of IT specialists to maximize their productivity.• Foster a mindset that embraces forward-thinking, teamwork, and perpetual advancement.Your Strengths and Skill Set• The necessary academic requirement is a degree at the undergraduate level in computer science, computer engineering, information technology, mathematics, or a similar discipline• Possessing a master's degree and associated credentials is viewed favorably• Accumulating ten plus years of valuable IT experience• Extensive experience in managing teams for a minimum of four years, showcasing strong leadership skills.• Guiding IT projects across the globe involves adapting methodologies and strategies to suit different market conditions.• Preference is given to candidates with experience in Pharma/Biotech or a similarly regulated environment• Background in solution architecture, emphasizing cloud technologies such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform.• Collaborate with stakeholders from different backgrounds, both technical and non-technical.• Established expertise in deploying synchronized strategies for cloud roadmap implementation.• Substantiated expertise in utilizing LLM models in practice.• Having familiarity with DevOps and experience in ML/AI engineering is advantageous.The expected base salary range for this position at hiring is $190,000 - $260,000. Please note this salary range reflects the minimum and maximum base pay that CSL expects to pay for this position at the listed location as of the time of this posting. Individual base salary for a successful candidate is determined by qualifications, skill level, experience, competencies and other relevant factors.
