Family Nurse Practitioner

Dare to Care too is a Multi Specialty Practice that serves the Maryland, Washington DC and Virginia area by providing a wide range of services including but not limited to the assessment and treatment of children ages six (6) and older and adults with physical and behavioral health disorders utilizing a comprehensive approach.

Job Description

The ideal candidate will work within a multidisciplinary team to provide physicals and medical care to existing clients who are receiving behavioral health services as well as care to new clients as they join the practice. They will be expected to conduct initial Physical Assessment and plan ongoing care for children and adults.

They will be responsible to:

  • Conduct ongoing and wellness examinations and pharmacological evaluations
  • Prescribe medications, teach clients about side effects and monitor response to prescribed medications
  •  Provide services to clients based on current status, risk, and as clinically indicated
  • Support staff to provide recovery-oriented and trauma-informed services
  • Participate in staff meetings
  •  Provide crisis intervention services supporting staff as needed
  • Communicate with hospital ER attending  when clients access emergency services
  • Support discharge planning with hospital and ER staff
  • Conduct risk assessment, provide guidance and direction on risk management
  • Use e-prescribing
  • Complete progress notes, significant events, referrals, and evaluations within expected timeframes
  • Use Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and data reports from EMR to track treatment progress and individual client outcomes
  • Use collaborative documentation procedures for assessment and individual sessions with clients
  • Communicate with specialist and behavioral health team to deliver integrated treatment 
  • Work in collaboration with the client and significant others to support recovery goals

Qualifications

  • Valid Maryland License required DC or Virginia license for practice as a Family Nurse Practitioner a plus;
  • Extensive experience working with those with mental health disorders, co-occurring substance use disorders, and primary health care problems is preferred
  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • To be eligible for to obtain and maintain employment, you must have a license that is  free and clear
  • Knowledgeable about holistic care approaches, lifestyle modification programs and medically supervised weight loss programs a plus.

Works within a collaborative multispecialty setting 

Needed to start one day a week on Thursday and increase days as census increases. 

 

Hours 11:00am-8:00pm  (office closed for lunch between 1pm-2pm)
