Airworthiness Engineer 5028-07

Delaware Nation Industries is seeking an Airworthiness Engineer to come join our team supporting AFSOC at Hurlburt Field, FL. Candidate shall have relevant work experience and in-depth knowledge of MIL-HDBK-516, Airworthiness Certification Criteria and MIL-STD 882, Standard Practice for System Safety, and Air Force Instruction 62-601, USAF Airworthiness. In addition, the candidate shall have relevant work experience and a thorough understanding of the regulations, manuals, instructions, guides, directives, and references associated with this position.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the government with the review, development, and implementation of USSOCOM and USAF Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (SUAS) airworthiness policy and procedures
  • Develop Airworthiness Safety Releases (ASRs) in support of USAF users and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Certificates of Waiver or Authorization (COA) applications
  • Provide subject matter expertise and briefings on SUAS capabilities, limitations, and airworthiness documentation required to obtain FAA COAs
  • Maintain the AFSOC Airworthiness Safety Release (ASR) program in support of UAS statements of airworthiness for Air Force UAS Groups 1, 2, & 3 systems

  • DoD Secret Security Clearance
  • Bachelor of Science degree in a related Engineering discipline with relevant work experience in SUAS system safety and risk-based analysis and mitigation techniques highly desirable
  • In depth knowledge of USAF policy, instructions, airworthiness bulletins, and MIL-HDBK-516
  • Military airworthiness qualification/certification and/or flight/component test experience is preferred.
  • Experience in airworthiness plan development, certification/qualification, or related activities
  • Design or test experience for one or more aerospace system, subsystem, or component design
  • Demonstrated command of engineering principles, methods, and techniques in area of expertise.
  • Effective customer and organizational level communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite programs, MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
